My battery charger is a 3 stage jobby with a 15min desulphating mode every 21hrs.
safe to leave on indefinately.
decided to check electrolyte levels the other day but checked voltage first.......8 volts in my 4 x 110ah bank.
Checked the charger.....turned on and working.
mode one (its switchable) float = 13.2v....correct
mode two.....absorption.....13.8v....correct
mode three.......bulk......14.4......correct.
Cant check desulph but thats 15v.
But......nothing going to the batteries.
Took a few hours to find the fault.
I had inadvertantly isolated the hab batteries instead of the engine battery.
this would have been November or December so no wonder the batteries were so low.
isolating my bank isolates fully...inc from the charger.
of course the charger is still powering the 12v system so i never noticed whenever i went in.
Upshot is i have 4 knackered batteries...tried charging but you can smell rotten eggs all the way to Humberside.
The rv is for sale so i only wanted the cheapest possible.
eBay is your friend.
Won a pair at auction and was ready to bid on two more auctions....same seller, same batteries.
The seller rang with a query and i mentioned i was going to bid on the other two.
Dont bother, when you come for the two you won ill sell you two more at the starting price.
I dont expect miracles and will check the standing voltage befoe i pay but as said, i only ant really cheap ones.
How much ?
£147 for four.......£77 for the winning bid and £35 each for the other two.
Got to collect from Manchester but even with fuel they are still only £45 each.
