My brother just phoned me from Dunwich, he is taking my sister out for a ride with a bit of fish and chips included. He says he has never seen Dunwich as busy. Walkers, parkers and fish chip eaters everywhere. Lets get rid of this virus and get the Furlough rabble back to work and the Benidormer's back to their cheap booze so we can start to enjoy our regular summer spots again without all this riff raff wanting to jostle and bulldoze their way in to our world. ;)

At West Runton a couple of weeks ago and the site was full but everyone kept away from each other. Went to Cromer for the afternoon and could see it was absolutely packed so didn’t stop and went on to the next village/beach (Overstrand), hardly anybody there. Just stay away from the normal hotspots or move on to the next if it looks too busy.

We were planning to be away this weekend but cancelled due to the crowds of people everywhere, I'd rather just stay at home and wait a while.
We will be in Norfolk ourselves this coming weekend, I have loaded a few cones in the van, get their early cone off the only two roads into Dunwich should do the trick. Have to do something to keep the buggers out.

It’s still School holidays so nothing will change for a few weeks

See you there
You have a perfectly nice place close by at Studland, get your kit off and enjoy a bit of south coast sunshine. What is the point of driving all that way just to meet a load of Furlough Benidormer's. ;)

Need to get some miles on the motorhome :whistle2:

We live close to Dunwich, often go early morning to walk, plenty of space, and free parking (donation box),in the last few weeks several overnighting Motorhomes, that seem to be tolerated.
By 10.30ish car park rammed, also the roads in the village, cars parked both sides.
Long queues at the beach cafe, and the pub .
Maybe busier as nearby NT Dunwich Heath is pre booked only.

I have been a regular camper between Southwold and Aldeburgh since the time of Benjamin Britten and pre Sizewell A power station being built. The biggest changes are the local population with most visitors to the area now being Audi driving members of the liberal elite. I had a girlfriends lived in Leiston, met her in the nightclub in the town. It was frequented mostly by Americans from the local base's but Dunwich stays much the same as it has always been.

Say`s it all really?. What we seem to have up here, Is the "Great Unwashed". who migrate from the larger City`s, congregate en mass. And leave behind their detritus (by which I mean everything) for the locals to "beachcombe".

Ah, could this be the reason why it is so busy today. Just chatting to my brother he said they offered him sixteen pounds off of his Fish and Chips if he sat inside to eat it. He turned the offer down as my sister had set the table up in his van. Its that Chancellor give away again. I think it cost him 35 pounds instead but he does like a very large cod with a portion of scampi on the side. he said it was excellent all around. (y)

Perfectly true. I had to pay full price for Sunday Lunch, at the local Pub/restaurant (who are doing some takeaways for those still "isolating"). Because I wanted to take it away.

Rishi's Giant GiveAway is only valid Mon, Tues, Wed, so you didn't miss out! :winky:

Would have been a lot cheaper in Benidorm 😉

In case you hadn’t realised buttons Dunwich is in Suffolk not Norfolk.
I'm told by the Suffolk locals that there be dragons over the border in Norfolk.

I agree with buttons, Audi "drivers" attend the BMW course for new owners, liberal stupidity is a bonus!

Obviously your brother does not get up early then !

Dunwich, on the morning the "Dunwich Dynamo" arrives is rammed.
5,000 cyclists from London arrive at dawn over a 4 hour period.
By midday 5,000 cyclists have been fed, watered and the shipped back by coach, lorry, car and train

It's a massive logistical operation that involves almost every resident of Dunwich as the cyclists are all trying to cram 1,000 calorie 'full English' breakfasts down as fast as possible and leave a bit of space for a few Pints.

The Ship Inn opens up the bar from 3.30am, the staff then go to bed after lunch time.

It's quite an experience, just don't make the mistake of parking your motorhome in an empty car park the night before, you won't sleep and you won't be able to move out!

Was in Norfolk/Suffolk last month (Cromer/Sherringham/Lowestoft). Distancinmg on sites was well organised and most folks complied, but in towns we went on bikes then turned around and went back...too many folks with no distancing in the town centres. Was the same in the peak district last weekend.

Eat in would have been the same on a Sunday
Again True. But SWMBO is in line for the operation they cancelled 24hrs before it was scheduled, back when the lockdown began. So in light of that we want to stay out of any Bars or Restaurants, to avoid as far as can be, running the risk of the possibility of contamination.

Some

Not as nice as eating it at Dunwich
Been following Benidorm on Youtube, the place is a ghost town. You would be lucky to find a fish chip outlet open. Hope Benidorm doesn't loose its appeal for those who have spent their first summer here.......;)

I am sure it won't loose its appeal, so many like fully inclusive Holliday packages or not having to cook etc. Looking forward to when the school holidays end and can get back out there.
