We’re heading to our favourite place in Spain next month but want to spend a few days en route around Valencia. Anybody know any good sites or wild camping recommendations.
Also, we had a hard time finding anywhere to camp 2 years ago in Nerja constantly being moved on. The only site there is crowded and won’t take bookings in advance. Any suggestions would be very welcome 🙏.

We stayed at this spot with 6 other vans last week, on the beach. Plenty space ✅

Hi,
We have been in Nerja on the campsite for the last 2 weeks and there are loads of spots.

Sat on the beach at Birriana at present and the weather is fantastic.

Normally we come here in Jan and Feb and FLT but at this time of the year, the restaurants are open so they need the parking.

That said, there are quite a few MH wild camping. You need to know the area to know where to park.

Lidl’s is not an option anymore as they have stopped parking overnight in Nerja.

Nerja, so far, is one of our favourite stopovers in Spain

Thanks for that but which campsite are you staying on? We know Nerja very well and love it but don’t want to end up on the ‘dust bowl’.

The campsite is the San Miguel (old avocado farm) on N340.

It can be dusty but so can loads of places in Spain.

Very quirky but we like that.

Ah yes! We’ve stayed there before and also like it. Problem for us is that if nothing has changed, the owner won’t take advance bookings so we just have to turn up and hope for the best. Can you ask for us? We’ll be there by December 15th. Haven’t been able to contact them myself. Thanks. Lucky you being there already.

I will ask the owner tomorrow but they seem determined not to take advance bookings.

The site has plenty of empty spots at the moment and I don’t see that changing but who knows?

Very hot today and gutted that we have to start heading home next week😩

Be nice to see some UK vans sometime, our Murcian coast is currently rammed with Germans, Dutch, French and Scandi's......of course I haven't done an accurate headcount, but while we are out and about we pass many motorhomes, a UK van is fairly rare indeed. The shops and eateries are all doing well.......positive signs for the country on the whole. I'm sure you will find a quiet corner somewhere.

Good morning,

I had a chat with the owner this morning. She said she cannot take a reservation and stated that it is best that you contact her nearer the time.

Not the answer you wanted I know.

From what I gathered, Dec, Jan and Feb is normally full on the site with their regulars. The owner is loyal to them first.

Let me know how you get on. Very jealous as I will be freezing in Blighty!

Check out the latest video from "Kinging it" on YouTube, they've just spent 3 days in Valencia and found some great spots and things to see.

The Valencia camper park at Betera is good for stop overs and longer stays and convenient for the motorway. We had two nights in San Miguel recently. Like the site, but internet was poor to non existent and at 25€ a night for an inside plot, 35 for and outside plot and very average toilet facilities, I think it is expensive. Worth looking at Almayate camper parking (non bookable) €20 near Torre del Mar, right on the beach and big slots, good internet, and good facilities. The site in Torre del Mar itself is large and can be booked, but some of the plots are a little cramped, but the situation is excellent for the beach and town.

I drove from Bromley Kent to Gibraltar last year dropping off my sister who lives in Alfafar, Valencia and she directed me to a beach front car park only a few kilometres from there. I stayed here two nights once on the way out and once on the way back There were no facilities it is just parking however once you're up in the morning you have wonderful views and there are a number of beachside restaurants for a hearty breakfast if you cant be bothered to cook.

I’m just down the road from Nerja right now in Torrox, Milu camper area, Dutch owned lovely people. Only a small site 35 pitches overlooking the beach. You would have to check on availability as very popular this time of year.

We are booked in there over Christmas and New Year, and the site is very full until March. As you say, lovely people and the restaurants on the beach are great!

Thankyou so much all. Yes, Milu is full and agree about San Miguel. We first stayed there when the husband of current owner had it. Disorganised but charming.
Think there is a massive business opportunity in Nerja for a campsite - maybe the closed down place near Maro. What say you entrepreneurs out there?
Trying to contact a small automated place at Caleta near the fishing boats but struggling.

There is a brand new site in the process of being built it’s about 500m down the road from Milu it’s been levelled but I’m not sure when it will be open.
There is also a place just 200m past Milu that used to be just storage has recently changed to a camper park it’s called Mirama.
