My battery is dead, tried to recover it but it will not take a charge above 11.4 volts. It has been deeply discharged whilst in storage. Tried all of the tricks (other good battery in parallel, changing charging rates etc) but I'm afraid its gone. it's a

Anyone have recommendations for a good quality replacement at a reasonable price? Looking at Exide at the moment with 800CCA rather than the Banner 680CCA.

TIA

Lenny HB has just purchased a new engine battery. He is the go to man when it comes to batteries on here ask him what he bought.

Fitted one of these during lockdown 1.
Obviously not bought directly though!
Think it's the same as Lenny HB

Got ours from here but they are currently out of stock

The other option I looked at was here

Both more expensive than Lenny's £105 though.

Forgot about that as when I go onto their site it automatically gives me the discount price. £143 without, £105 with.
Not a great fan of Halfords but they have a good reputation with battery warranties, no questions asked.

All you need to do is go onto their site and signup for it, that's all I did.

I put the same battery in my Jag - which failed after 19 months and Halfords exchanged with no issues. But later discovered Tayna had it for £40 less LOL but at least no issues with returns and awaiting a replacement. Wont get fooled again! Congrats on your discount!

Always going to get the odd one fail whatever the make, I rate Exide's but seen quite a few reports of failures.
At the moment Halfords are the cheapest on the Yuasa (with trade card) and if it does fail no hassle changing it & it was a nice new stock battery, sitting at 12.85v.

The Bosch battery with a five year guarantee I purchased from Euro car parts was £100 more expensive at Halfords !!!

As I have said elsewhere I have used Advanced Battery Supplies in the past for the buses and coaches I worked on and my own vehicles. The vehicle battery for our Rienza came from them. I can’t remember the price but it was delivered next day.

Just buy the cheapest one that fits from whereever. It's not worth spending decent money on starter batteries. They last until they get knackered because you left the lights on, or parked it over winter with the alarm still running. You might as well destroy a £80 battery as a £200 battery. A fancy name doesn't stop the thing being destroyed by being fully discharged.

Tayna can supply a 250 battery for £82 including delivery. Other suppliers are available.

Same as fitted by the base vehicle manufacturer. Probably Varta or Sonnenshein.

Be aware that for some strange reason that manufacturers used to fit batteries with 650 ish CCA but now recommend at least 900 CCA 👍

Got a H3 Varta Silver Dynamic 100Ah (830 CCA I think) recently from Tayna Batteries for £98.97 incl. VAT & delivery. Yet to be fitted - will update later on.
