Had a letter from Nationwide yesterday to inform me that I will be charged £30 for a existing condition (Feflux) which has been a none chargable condition for 5 year I've disclosed it.
When speaking to them I also disclosed that the doctor had prescribed paracetamol and ibuprofen gel for pains in a finger, old football injury ........................................................
The cost increased from £30 to £115 nearly fell off my chair.
What with the £65 extra this year for the over 70s I get the feeling after 12 years with them they think I'm ready for the knacker yard.
:(:rolleyes::D

Might be worth looking at a Lloyds account although a bit dearer at £19/month but covers up to 45 days travel and up to 80 years of age.
They have a long list of conditions you don't need to declare.

Thanks will have a look at them, £30 for mild reflux and £85 for pain in my finger is laughable.

I have been with Nationwide for a number of years and been happy with the "Flexplus" deal-especially wheh I broke down big time in Belguim and they brought my van back. But as they are slowly putting up the cost and dropping off certain bits (extra 1 year guarantee on electrical items/card fraud helpline ) is making it less attractive.

We nearly changed to Nationwide after years with Lloyds, I'd even made the phonecall about pre existing conditions and duration of travel and it was OK. Then there were a couple of funsters who'd had trouble with them regarding pre existing conditions and what was actually meant so we've stayed. One had a big bill in Cyprus and is still fighting them I presume. This was Nov 2018.

We have an old Premier account with Lloyds so it's dear at £27 per month but covers up to 60 days per trip. Also covers our youngest in full time education up to the age of 24 so thought we'd hang in there a bit longer!

We know Lloyds works and it was unbelivably easy. Daughter is going to work in Bangladesh for 2 or 3 years so we thought staying was worth it for peace of mind. It seems we are visiting!

The insurance ombudsman apparently has more complaints about packaged bank accounts than any other insurance, so I will stay with the Post Office for now.

A friend had a serious head injury in Barbados, only insurance he had was via his Lloyds bank account. They were superb, after he came out hospital they flew a nurse down from Canada to accompany him home and flew him & his wife home 1st class.

Same as me i rang to try to extend trips from 31 to 60 for my son who will be working abroad in the summer. Was told 50 charge so told them not to bother. Was the give heads up about a 30 charge at renewal due to change in medical underwriting
Not happy but for me still worth it
Family travel, family mobile phones and 2 vehicles using breakdown cover still god value at 13pm plus 30 = £186 per year

I was only mentioning for the travel insurance, the breakdown cover is UK only so pretty useless, suits us as wife is ex Lloyds do we get a 50% discount in the monthly charge.
