Has anyone found a better deal than Nationwide Flex Plus now they have stopped interest on the account?
I can't fathom if they have changed anything else.

Not sure about direct comparisons but Santander 123 pay interest and commissions on Direct Debits

No. Haven't bothered looking. We're only talking a percentage point or two of interest wherever you go.
With the extensive belongings loss, health and breakdown cover (e.g. I have 5 vehicles) the £13.50 a month is still a good deal and saves me faffing about/forgetting to renew individual cover for each vehicle or amending cover when I change any one of them. It also applies with any vehicle in which I'm a passenger.

BUT you are only covered for one vehicle per person (ie 2 vehicles if a joint account)!

I don't know how carefully that would be monitored and it's not a problem which I have personally!

What happens if you’re out in 1 car and have an accident and whilst you are away another gets stolen or catches on fire do you get paid out for both?

It's breakdown insurance and travel plus a couple of other things ,it's not vehicle insurance.BUSBY.

Not that I can see. If you follow this link and read the Vehicle section it makes no reference to number:
Exactly, since I can only drive one vehicle at a time.
It's the FlexPlus account-holder's vehicles that are covered, plus any vehicle in which the account holder is a passenger,

So if I own 3 cars and all registered to me then they are all policyholder cars and covered unless there is a specified limit which afaik there isn't. I guess there might be a problem if I was driving 2 at the same time and both broke down??

Well that's interesting, I was told that cover was limited to a certain number of vehicles, and shown a document saying that.

Looking at the link, it doesn't mention vehicle numbers anywhere (as you say), with four vehicles in our household this looks a good Idea, I/we have Nationide accounts already, an upgrade might be in order..(y)

Can anyone confirm if this includes breakdown cover for Europe please (its for the van)
Cheers

There is no requirement to give vehicle details which not only makes life easier but ensures they cannot check on the number of vehicles.

When NW stopped the interest on Flexplus, we opened three flexdirect accounts (two individual and one joint) and primed them with £2500 ( from Santander 123 account) to earn 1.5% interest for the first year. I sweep the interest over to the FLexplus account to cover the fees. I send £1k from a 123 Santander account each month and send £1k back to meet the requirements of the accounts. After a year we'll have to find somewhere else to fund it. Still good value for the benefits

Sorry didn’t read thread correctly doh?

Can confirm from first hand experience this September in France. They provided useful advice and paid for the recovery when we returned to the UK, no problem (y)

Actually 180 days, the exact wording is:

"A pre booked continuous journey to the countries as specified within the geographic limits of Section D which begins and ends in the UK and which does not exceed 180 days in total during a 12 month period"

As it states "A pre-booked continuous journey" I would assume only one trip is covered in each 12 month period.

I wouldn't like to say on that one, seems a little ambiguous to me.

I telephoned Nationwide to check any changes, I was passed over to the breakdown people. all they could tell me was size and weight limits. I tried to push them on length of journey but they said it was nothing to do with them.

Thanks for the replies & sorry I hijacked your thread a little ?

I'm thinking of getting rid of my Flex account. I don't think the benefits are worth anything anymore.
As I've turned 70 I have to pay a supplement on the travel insurance and they would not insure my husband anyway. We have breakdown cover with NFU car insurance and Comfort for the van. I'm not that bothered about phone insurance. Am I missing something?

I think perhaps we all need to read the link more carefully, especially page 5. Item 3, section A, bullet point 3. See below:-
3. What is/isn’t covered Section A – Introduction to Britannia Rescue Breakdown Policies
• This policy is for Nationwide FlexPlus current account holder(s) permanently residing in the UK
• This policy will cover the Nationwide FlexPlus current account holder(s) for breakdown and recovery assistance at the roadside and at your home address. FlexPlus current account holders are covered in any vehicle whether as a driver or a passenger. It doesn’t cover costs incurred by driver(s)/rider(s)/passengers in accompanying vehicles that haven’t broken down
• It also provides cover for one vehicle registered to the Nationwide FlexPlus current account holder and being used with their permission. Where the account is in joint names two vehicles can be covered

I moved to Paragon, 1 year fixed rate, 1.79%(y)
