Why does the National Trust not allow camping at their car parks?

Sadly, many visitors leave rubbish, empty glass bottles and disposable BBQ’s which pose a risk of fire.
There are no toilet facilities and so human waste and used toilet paper is often left in hedges. This isn’t good for wildlife or nice for our rangers when strimming or undertaking other conservation work.
There is no planning permission in place and camping is in breach of National Trust bye-laws.
By not wild camping you are helping to look after and protect the wildlife that makes this place their home. Thank you.

I feel a bit cheesed off that the National Trust has to put this on their website, linked with overnighting in their car parks. I have no idea who it is that leaves all this rubbish, not to mention the frequent poo and toilet paper.

I would suggest, however, that it is not motorhomers. Thoughts?

Of course it is not the majority of motorhomers. Probably not even overnighters.

We visit many NT sites up and down the country and have parked overnight in a few, which they were quite happy with.

In all our visits, vans are few and far between and I have never, ever seen any toilet paper, emptied bowls or poo and rubbish left as they have describe.

I usually get directed towards the coach park as well to park and not a single sign of the conduct that's been mentioned, or the mess described and it does make me a bit cross when they talk about the wildlife, as we all flipping love the wildlife and I honestly don't believe any Funster would act or conduct themselves in this way.

I now wonder just where they cut and pasted the details from, as it's no motorhomers that I know.

More tarring us with the same brush I feel.
