Never leave a campsite with your clothes line tied to a lamp post.
Mrs Tinca and myself decided that we could do with a change of scenery so we have decided to sell our home in Sunny Deb'n and downsize and move to North Somerset. In order to minimise stress we will complete the sale, put our possessions in storage, and then live in the van in Somerset while we go house hunting with cash in the bank and the bargaining power that goes with it.

We prefer CL's rather than CC sites and hope to find one we like with toilet and shower facilities, but would use a CC (or private) site if necessary. We have been informed that there is a maximum stay of around 28 days before we would have to vacate; however after two days elsewhere we could return for another 28 days. This seems a bit silly to us but we can understand the thinking behind it to deter unwanted encampments of undesirables.

We are not the first, and will certainly not be the last, to use this strategy for house hunting and we would love to hear from others who have done something similar. What was the best method for managing a postal address? Are there any pitfalls with bank accounts / insurance companies etc regarding being of no fixed address for a few weeks / months? Are there other things to take into consideration that we have not even thought of?

Looking forward to receiving your words of wisdom,

The Tincas

I think it’s best to have a postal address , a relative / close friend . You are no longer on electoral roll ?

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
We planned on doing it before we moved here to Pickering. Stopping on a campsite we use to use there , while we found and completed.
Putting what furniture we’d decided to keep , in storage.
We’d actually seen this house and wanted it. It was perfect for us but wasn’t on the market , I’d put a note through the door after finding out it was empty.
The owner wasn’t in a rush to sell , it was his deceased fathers and was too busy with his combine harvesting ....
So we got ours tittivated and dressed to sell over a couple of months. The sign went up in the front garden on the Friday .
We ended up selling our house the first weekend it went up for sale for full asking 😵
We contacted our seller who said fine let’s get things going.
So we ended up completing within 6 weeks of the for sale board going up.
Good luck 👍
