Motorway toll tags

Why can’t do just wave your debit card (or phone) at the payment machine as we did a month ago, I presume you have a debit card that doesn’t charge a fee if you’re in France or Spain ?? As you seem to be giving the impression that online is the only way to pay….it isn’t.
Used to be some UK banks charged a foreign transaction fee of say £2 per transaction so each toll was its price + the transaction fee it soon adds up. Also now some motorways dont have a toll both you are scanned as you drive at 80mph under a gantry. You may not even notice. I believe these free flow motorways are in France and Spain. A friend of mine got a large fine in Portugal not realising he had passed one and not realising its your responsibility to know if you owe the money, just like driving into London. Anyway Fulli, Bip and Go etc... remove this worry. The main thing is just sailing straight through the tolls without your passenger having to even wake up.

We have an Emovis (sanef) toll tag that we have used in France for numerous years, this one being a replacement a couple of years ago, what I would like to know is does this automatically work in Spain / Portugal?

We are heading there in a couple of weeks time and it is such a game changer for avoiding queues, holdups

Thanks
ADAC has an excellent toll tag for France, Spain, Portugal and Italy which is paid automatic via PayPal. I’m not sure if it’s only for German citizens but worth trying on their website.

Just got back. I'll be listing our costs for using the toll system in France. Emovis.
It doesn't matter what tag you have the toll charges are the same. We have emovis and like that its in English, paid from a UK bank account by direct debit and all in good old British pounds😉

I seem to remember the ADAC pulled out of any agreement involving the UK after Brexit.
(Which included their very good 'get you home' service which tens of thousands of UK vehicles had signed up for)

OK i'll re phrase wot i said as my hinglish is not good.
As a matter of interest i will mention how much we have paid to use the tolls on our recent trip.

The toll charges are the same, but the admin fees charged aren't. How much per month when used, when not used or annual fee all vary.

Yep but for how often we use it there's not much in it versus the others. Would like them to bring out a tag that does them all or better still the EU agree a standard.

That’s such a pity!

Threw self into panic about toll free flow m ways - we leave on Weds for a short break [got Puy de Fou Tickets -yaaayyyyy] but was Home alone, last min journey planning and have minus IT skills- tried Fulli/bip n go computer kept saying No at payment page [assume we have an IBAN but WTF ?]
So researched further on here [thank you MH Funsters - again a life saver -]Anyway got an emovis tag last Friday , spent couple of hours re planning routes/itinery in case it didnt arrive in time. It has just been delivered - seems to be simple to use and we can TX it to car [apparently ] with no more keyboard tears . It May Be Me [well it is ] but why is everything so complicated .Now going to bake cake to take - stress free task I hope xx

If you are worried you may have missed a toll (freeflow) in France , you can check on the Sanef website. Needs doing soon after though as there is a time limit on paying.

How long does a Fulli battery last?
Mine’s 4 years in and still working. Doesn’t seem to be a way to check it. Bit of a worry when you approach the barrier and you get that few seconds delay!!😂

Ours is also 4 years old and still working. I always keep it in the supplied ‘Faraday Cage’ pouch once we’re done with it but I don’t know if that helps with battery life.

2 of us were hopefully just unlucky and perhaps had duff ones. We’d got them the same time and the battery only lasted 18 months. Got a new one and so far so good but it’s not hit the 2 year mark yet. I would imagine it should be 5 or 6 like ATMB and Emovis which we’d had before. Only changed as it was cheaper and wanted Italy coverage.

Fulli tags work in France, Spain, Portugal and Italy
One off €25 payment for the tag (incl P&P) which arrives by post within a week
We have been using this for several years.

However same problem as with Bip & go, it will not take payment from UK banks that don't accept SEPA (Direct debits in Euros)
If you have a Starling, Revolut, Monzo, Halifax, Wise etc. €uro account, then not a problem.
I understand Barclays and Nat West work as well.
But Santander does not
I have a Fulli Tag, purchased this year. Covers France, Spain, Portugal and Italy.

It takes payment from my UK Amex card with no issue.
