Anyone have any ideas about running our own Pop up summer sites. I'm sure we could do it cheaper than most of them, as we would run it to be non profit making. We have the exemptions and the insurance, we just need to find the land and Funsters willing to run it.

Shout up if you have any ideas (y)

Water, waste bins and somewhere to dump toilet waste. If not on mains, then containers and collections are easily arranged but quitre expensive.

Safe access and egress. Not too close to neighbours so as to annoy them for a whole month

Only problem I can see Jim is travellers.

We were at Emmit ‘s Topsham site, and we all know what happened when we moved off.

Then at Pershore, travellers were esconced on the Abbey Green, and Avon Meadows had to be secured every night, against possible invasion.

I got the feeling that venues that hosted Fun meets were being eyed up as easy targets for other ‘groups’.

Anyone have any ideas for a holiday site next year?

Jim, is it worth contacting rugby clubs, schools etc - it seems to work well for the C & CC club.

Maybe not in the ever popular resorts, but lesser known areas which might be cheaper (not that I think the THS’s are expensive anyway).

Maybe cash strapped village halls with big car parks would not be averse to our money!

I will ask my local rugby club in Frome, just outside Bath. They have a huge place but will depend on there season. They hold one of the uks biggest rugby 7 tournaments at some point so must have a licence for that sort of thing. It’s ideal location for southwest area

South of England showground. Goodwood race course, Chichester marina, Mid Sussex Councils staff car park and lawns - sorry silly suggestion.

Is the National Trust changing its approach to overnight parking?
Any NT members on here who have any information regarding the issue

Think you can rule out Chichester Marina. We stayed there for a year in our motorhome while working on our boat. Initially they were fine with it, but then complaints started coming in from a few weekend sailors that we were taking up too much room in the car park. This despite the fact that for most of the time we weren’t actually in a car parking space but parked up alongside the boats out of the water.

Then they installed a height barrier on their visitors car park - even though they had never had any trouble from ‘travellers’.

A motley assortment of motorhomes arriving for a rally would probably give the locals apoplexy.

Sounds familiar.
For 20+ years I've been actively involved in organising the three national annual rallies for my classic motorbike club. Just a field and a water tap is needed as we arrange Portaloos. The average age of the bikes and the (100 to 250) participants has been around 65 so we're not hell-raisers.
We are inundated with site suggestions from members but sadly lacking people with the time to research them, follow up or organise the events.

We've used rugby clubs, farms and fields behind pubs. We had a very successful one in the field alongside the canal and next to the CAMC Home Farm CL at The Greenway, Stoke Bruerne, Towcester, Northamptonshire, NN12 7SY. It's independent from the CAMC and right next to the gorgeous canal and a 50 yd walk along the canal to two excellent food and drinks canal-side pubs, The Navigation and The Bridge Inn.

The field.......
