Hi there we are currently on a campsite in Spain which offers free Wi-fi (saves us using our data allowances up) but where we are pitched the camp Wi-fi signal is rather weak so we decided to use our motorhome Wi-fi iBoost kit to give the campsite Wi-fi a boost. However, although the scanning search picks up the campsite Wi-fi perfectly it will not connect to their Wi-fi once I select and apply it etc. I’ve put the campsite Wi-fi passkey in correctly so no errors on that score but no matter what direction we point the booster in the led light stays at only 1 green light. I don’t want to bother Addy (Adam) the motorhome Wi-fi iBoost owner (even though they offer that service) as it’s a Sunday and I’m sure he doesn’t want disturbing on a weekend but if anyone on here who has this set up too, can suggest what I might be doing wrong then your help would be much appreciated. By the way I know the campsite Wi-fi is working inside the motorhome as my iPhone picks it up from inside the motorhome perfectly but it is just a bit slow due to the signal being a bit weak. Plus I know the iBoost is not faulty as it picks up my mobile broadband Mifi system fine.
Thank you
Sue

Have you followed the instructions properly? I missed a step out and it took ages before i realised !!

I think I have done MisterB. I’ve used it several times before (although admittedly not recently) and never had a problem before connecting but I just wondered if there was something I needed to do because it’s a Spanish set up. Thank you for replying to my post and I will go through it all very carefully again just to make sure I’ve not missed something. ?

How many dB’s is it showing? If I recall correctly anything below 80 should be ok but the lower the better.

Hi Ian,
Where the signal strength lights are supposed to be lit up when you log into the menu there is nothing showing at all, it is completely blank!

In the screen above, does it show your Wi-Fi network in the SSID field in the list on the left?

Here is the troubleshooting page. If you need earlier pages, let me know.
Bon chance!

Skeggysue you should be ashamed of yourself! You've bought something from us (well, actually an iBoost and a 4G System), you should feel unburdened in asking us for support - even on a weekend. If I didn't want to reply to your e-mail, I wouldn't :D.

Please send us a support request on www.motorhomewifi.com/support and attach the screenshots (or just send them via e-mail if that's easier) and I'll take a look and suggest a solution.

I can't offer any further suggestions but I'm sure that if you are not showing the colouredbargraph of signa lstrength then you do not have a internetconnection... even with the coloured bar graph showing and the signal looking apparently good , if there are no figures in the rx and tx line furthur down the page you do not get connected...
Ive had it where the signal strength bar graph flashes... if that happens its an indication that it doesn't recognise the security code that has been entered..
Andy.

Are you confusing entering the code with the password? I seem to recall that was my issue, not entering the password on the side of the modem

I pay 15 quid for WiFi finder and booster off eBay great bit of kit over 500 metres or more than enough for any campsite, just inserted cd in laptop done.
Now bought another cheaper and better no cd needed.
No need to pay great amounts.

That’s a good price for sure but what technical support do you have?
For me it’s a bit like an Apple product, costs much more but the technical support through time more than makes up for it. Saves wasted hours pulling your hair out when you can’t solve your problem.

Motorhome WiFi gives a fantastic after purchase support service almost 24/7 .

Don’t know just plug in to USB in laptop I installed it with cd in to laptop job done now switch on laptop and it picks up all WiFi all around and if you have the password or it’s open your in.

Make and link to item would be good

Another vote for motorhome wifi. I am currently in our static and am able to turn a single user access into multi user access - keeps everyone happy and saves the original cost after a few months !! I can also access internet tv at the same time !!

We use ours just for emails using campsite WiFi or any we can pick up and 15 quid is a lot less a130 one that sticks on side of your van

If it meets your needs then brilliant. Ive been through various transitions inc an Alpha unit from ebay, prob similar to what your using and various different antenna, but the motorhome wifi just gives so much more inc internet tv ( and firestick) and laptops and mobile phones all connected at the same time. For our use its far more suitable and as i said earlier, because we can share the connection it makes far better economical sense for us, but for a single connection the Alpha units do pack a punch when boosting a signal.

Sounds great but internet tv firestick mobile phones do you have to pay anything else apart from buying the WiFi booster.
I have dish for tv.

We also have a static and there is Wi-Fi available on the site but it’s costly for just one device connected and not a very stable connection and dreadful speeds. Can I ask what your system is and the initial and ongoing costs please?

Yes. Unless the wifi itself is free, you will need to pay for that.

If its not very stable then it might not be worth the investment. The wifi setup will cost around £150 though you can get second hand ones on auction sites.

An annual subscription on our site is around 180 euros (damned expensive for just a single device/user or just a computer) but as the connection can be shared between 10 devices AND you can get internet tv via the single ethernet cable connection into a set top box/decoder - quality depends on strength and quality of signal though) then for me, its worth the cost.

Skeggysue have you got it sorted yet?
If now I'm wondering if you have an IP conflict as the wan & Lan addresses need to be on a different range. I e. The campsite routor and you router need to be in different IP ranges.

This shouldn't be an issue with the iBoost, but not the cause on this occasion as a signal strength had not been registered so no connection or IP address has been assigned via DHCP by the host.

Likely something simple we could fix in a couple of minutes via phone or web support request but I haven't heard from Sue.

We tend to treat Static sites differently to ensure it works and improves the connection in line with your expectations. Best to give me a call or a message, as we don't want to supply you something that isn't going to improve your situation in a static location if you haven't got a touring use for it as well.

We bought the Motorhome wifi at the Birmingham show, from MoHo WiFi. I never managed to get it to work, I sent it back for a software refresh for which I was charged for. I never ever managed to get it to work, even my son who is a computer bod gave up.

Why didn’t you contact Adam at Motorhome WvIFi? Their customer service is amazing !

I've used the iboost d800 Pro for 5 years all over Europe and overall it's been excellent overall though at a few sites I could not connect even though the signal strength was fine. I put this down to either a poor Internet speed or the campsite WiFi provider having some sort of software that prevented a booster being used. I've no idea if this is even possible tbh and I haven't researched it as I have a mifi as well. Perhaps one of the techies can give a more definitive answer

Did you try following the instructions? Its really easy once you know how to do it . I'm very surprised if your son is a computer bod and couldn't do it either. Its not rocket science if you follow instructions and ask for help if need be.
