Hi, my partner as uk registered motorhome and lives in England I want to be put on insurance as a named driver.
The problem is I have a uk driving license and passport but I am Spanish resident.
So anyone know of any British insurance company that will insure her motorhome.
Thank you.

Thank you AIB insurance can not do it but found AXA will do it if I fit a tracker, full comp 855 pound, so I know I can get insured I’ll keep looking.

If your resident in Spain you should have changed your licence to Spanish, you should have done it by now, you could end up taking a driving test in Spain, there's lots of people have trouble getting insurance in the UK. 🙂 Bob.

Thank you, Yes we know all about that only I was only resident June so can change license until the Spanish government have a discussion

Have a talk with Jason Robery at Keith Michael's Insurance, they do non straight forward insurance.

Thank you I have he makes to difficult and now he’s more expensive than others.

Have you asked if they'll cover any driver above certain age? (Check this includes foreign licences etc.) This might be easier to arrange than a specific non-resident.

In the last 4 months I’ve asked all the questions at the moment it axa 855.

At the risk of quoting myself, insurance companies can do strange things about risks. I once asked how much it would cost to add a friend of mine for three weeks (so a group of us could do a European tour). Yes, that would be £60. How much to add permanently? Oh, that's free!

Thank you, yes we did think of taking out short term insurance for each trip.

i'm not too sure what you are exactly asking? If it is your partners motorhome & you just wish to be added I cannot see what the problem is?
They just add you?
I am a spanish permanent resident. I have a spanish driving licence & have had for nearly 20 years. My mate justs added me to his car insurances giving correct details of me to the companies & they charged £40 for remainder of the year .Since then He just renews with me as a named driver.

Thank you I want to be a named driver on my partners insurance all the time not temporarily.
But what insurance company is that with. Thank you.

To be honest ,I have no idea ? Just that he mentioned he had renewed the policies every year, with me as a named driver ,since I was added in 2014.
Additionally in that same year I was added to son-in-laws sisters policy, she was travelling in Australia, & one thing I did learn from him is ask for the cost to add for the time required ,then ask for the cost till policy end .It is far cheaper. On his sisters car they wanted £25/week add on but only £17,50 until poilcy renewal 4 months away? With my friend it was £45 until renewal ,8 months away

You can get temp insurance for visitors but not on permanent and on saying that I’ve just got a company who will insure me as maned driver.
£ 855.50 for year.

I’ve a uk insurance company that will insure me but there’s nothing on the policy mentioning I’m a Spanish resident, they say they know I’m a Spanish resident and that’s ok with them.
I’m not sure I like that.
