Does anyone here use a full cover over their motorhome? We're thinking of buying one and I can see previous posts about buying a top cover or an engine cover but not a full cover. I'm looking at a Kampa Universal cover, which has zips to make it easier to put on and take off (we'd still need ladders). Does anyone have experience of using full covers and if so what would you recommend? We went with the make of exterior windscreen cover that most people recommended on here and we're delighted with that.

I would never use a cover . Potential for scuffing and problems resulting from lack of airflow.

My vans handbook even states don’t do it!

Unless very securely fastened they can cause scuffing as they flap in the wind, and it's not an easy job fixing securely.
Also, if anything on the roof has sharp corners... Sat dish, solar panel etc... They will puncture the cover making it non waterproof.
If you must use a cover consider a roof cap which will fit better and cause less damage... But sharp corners will need protecting.

We have a hymer just under 21 foot, we used large cover, zipped at the front yes,was a bit of a pickle to get on, we had left the front strap Undone, come back up the storage lock up after bad storm year ago, :X3: it had ripped on of the times nearly off, not used it for the last year...Free to anyone who wAnts it, slight repair nedded, has its own cover.(y)

Yu really need to be wary of covers as they can trap damp inside and cause problems - air must be able to circulate around the vehicle
Thank you, yes, we've covered cars before but nothing this big. I can see that the more claims they make about breathability, the more expensive the covers are, so we won't be going for a cheap one.

Thanks, this is useful info and food for thought. Our van is parked outside the house so we can keep an eye on flappage as it happens. At present we have the van in a sort of huge tent thing, which it was built in. The tent frame is bolted to wood, and the van wheels sit on the wood, it has survived some violent weather (we're pretty exposed where we are). BUT, it's a pain getting it in and out (I have to stand on a step ladder with a stick and poke the tent up so it doesn't catch on the TV ariel as my other half drives out trying not to knock me off the ladder with the wing mirror!) ) and obvs, with the van out.... the tent could blow away and that could cause damage because it has a big steel frame. So we're looking at other ways to stop the van going green over the winter.

Thank you, good point about the ... points. Noted.
