2 questions in one here. If you turn up at a campsite and you’re filthy (ooo I say!) do you wash yours on site and second question are there jet washes out there in garages that are suitable for a quick spit and polish prior to arriving on site or heading home . ? Seems to me a viable business venture .

Just got back from the West Country and on arrival at the site I could plant spuds on the rear wall - and yes , I washed it , with the sites water tap - that’s bound to wind some funsters up :-)

I would ask the campsite owner. Some are ok with it, others not. A polite enquiry never goes amiss.

As for Jet washes, that is what I do. However, I am not particular prideful of my vehicles so they have to be particularly grubby to force it and then only when they won't get crapped up again in 5 seconds due to the weather and road conditions.

After a recent outing to Lyndon top, the van got absoloutely filthy so I'm thinking of sticking my Karcher in one of the lockers to give it a quick blast at or nearby the destination, I always travel fully loaded with water etc so no problem there

Is that a mains powered one ?

Its normally only around the skirts of the MH, the wheels & windscreen that get dirty after a long run up country, and it looks worse than it is mostly as the van is white in colour.
I carry a medium sized pump up garden sprayer in the garage, which has a splash of car shampoo in it. I simply pump it up and spray down the van, finishing off with a microfibre cloth, the windscreen is difficult to reach, so I use one of those telescopic handled microfibre mops to reach the really tall bits.
I forgot who told me as a youngster, but if the wheels are clean, the car/van is much more presentable, that seems to have stuck with me.
I am not happy with The Fiat Alloy diamond cut wheels though, but that's another story.

A man after my own heart, wheels and tyres need to be clean otherwise ruin the look.

and it must be the name, garden spray bought and used to clean the van, when these modern waterless polishes not suitable.

Amazes me how clean some motorhomes are arriving on-site.

Ours is usually covered in mud, salt or dead insects
My mate cleans his at any opportunity , even travelling when he stops for a drink he will clean all the glass, mirrors ,etc. he won't even let you park anything on his drive if it is filthy. You get given bucket, sponge & the hosepipe.:giggle:

Our local Tesco have a wash bay that they use for their delivery trucks. A wash broom with decent detergents and choice of pressure washer settings. It's the only local place you could get a coachbuilt or A class through. There must be a business model for local bus or coach companies to wash 3rd party vehicles

I have in the past had to resort to using a "hand car wash" at ex garages when in a rush. But much prefer to get help to wash and polish at home
