A couple of interesting snippets yesterday. Lewis Hamilton was in the Petronas garage and there is a strong likelihood that in a couple of months time he will go with Rossi to a track in Europe and take their respective race equipment and swap. This was backed up with Neil Hodgson saying that Lewis had been on track with Sam Lowes on Sam's superbike and ended the day within 6 seconds of Sam's times. Every session he went out and improved his times and every time he came back in and said that he was pleased to be going faster but now he wanted to go faster still. A true racer. I bet he would be up there mixing it with the best if he had gone down the bike route.
Not so good yesterday was Rossi. He opted for an aerodynamic package based on last years bike but when Vinales was hammering him with the new update kit Rossi switched to this in the qualifiers. Unfortunately for him it didn't improve matters and he finished well out of the top12. Doubly troubling for him is that he has now used up all the upgrade options for the rest of the season. Is this the start of the end for him?
Lowes and McPhee both looked good in the qualifiers. Marquez and Lorenzo weren't quite on it despite having the fastest bike down the straight, probably because both had a couple of falls. The Yams were about 14mph down on the rest on the straight which makes Vinales times impressive.
The Ducatis look absolutely stunning under the lights, Yamaha looked plain by comparison.
I will post todays results on a new thread with a "Spoiler Alert" so you don't have to look if you don't want to.
