MOT Test

As newcomers to both the rv and fulltiming life we are approaching our first MOT and finding it difficult to get booked into a test station to take our 12' height. Any ideas please for the Lincoln/Newark/Grantham area?

Jan you could try your local VOSA test station they usualy take HGV's buses etc
Thats what i use for my Winnebago.... plus side is they won't be touting for work as they don't do repairs

I second (third) what Winnibagotony and roadrunner have said. You can't go wrong (famous last words) at a VOSA Test Centre. Make sure they realise it is a motorhome though. You will only be charged for a normal Class four test.
Unfortunately you usually have to book well ahead. Tell them you will take a cancellation at last minute if you are free to do that.

We MOT our RV at the local Ford dealership. They do commercial vehicle sales as well as cars and because they do car mot's AND commercial vehicle MOT's they have the space and car MOT testing equipment etc.

Ring round locally wherever they do commercial vehicles and ask id they do cat MOT's and you may be laughing.

How big is your Motorhome?

Have real problems in Lincoln finding MOT Test stations capable of taking large vehicles.

Allenby have 2 larger ramps ramps for 15 and 20 foot (wheelbase) vehicles.

Hope I'm doing this reply correctly! Not very computer literate. We are currently on one of the best CLs in Lincolnshire, near Rauceby, opposite RAF Cranwell, a fantastic little spot and so very friendly. Thanks again for your advice. Jan and Merv

How old are the Granddaughters?

9 (yesterday), going on 30 and 5, going on 25, and they just love camping in the rv, know how it works better than we do. Can't wait until they're old enough to drive us around!
