I was told, yesterday that, because our motorhome has a garage and we carry a scooter it in and we are 4250kg, the MOT has to be carried out by a Ministry of Transport centre. Has anybody else heard this or was I being spun a line?

TIA
John

It's technically a living van as it carries 'goods not conducive to camping' .... You don't need a scooter to camp
Nitpicking in my book. Take the scooter out or find another test station.
Not sure but I think you would need a ministry plate, Tacho and a hauliers licence to use a ministry test centre... But that's only a guess.

many many years! since I was a kid
although your van is class 4 MOT, the same as a car, the DVSA IS cracking down on testers for letting stuff slip by. There was talk some time back about the re-installing the "living van" as so few are about according to MOT data. It is the same revision that has clamped down on converting panel vans to "window vans" not motor caravans
