I thought if you took a vehicle for its MOT early and it failed, the MOT expired?

Thanks @klaatu I understand that, but on the Gov MOT checking site, the van failed it's test on the 29th of June, but still has a valid MOT until the 13th of July?

Because it has a year from the last mot unless it fails a more recent one on things that are dangerous must have had the last on 13th July last year. It why I always take mine just under a month early if theres a minor fail pleanty of time to sort it out before the old mot expires a right hassle otherwise as you can't park it on the road.

In essence an Mot Cant under normal circumstance expire early, given the scenario you have alluded too
the old MoT is still valid and you wont/ can't be charged with the offence of driving without a valid MoT certificate.
However there is a very big BUT the offence of driving an unroad worthy vehicle is still available to the authorities

For the record Vosa/ DVSA can invalidate a current mot in unusual
circumstances ie it may have been issued illegally/fraud etc
