MOT: Air bag warning light

Gonna die!!!! Oh well, get it fixed and only your passenger - who will very likely not have an airbag - will die. And if you have a vehicle pre-airbag, that must be a deathtrap than?
Airbags, abs and other other features added by manufacturers are safety features, if you don't want them fair enough, in over 1,000,000 miles of driving, I have never needed a seat belt or airbag, abs has been useful, but who knows what I will need on this mornings drive, hopefully nothing, but if I have a head on crash with a drunk driver, I will be glad I paid for the new airbag module.
I can afford to maintain the safety features on my vehicles, I can't replace health, if you would rather save a few quid and tape over the light or bodge it on some way that is your choice.

Does anyone know if the new designed ECU is compatible with both the x250 & x290 Fiat based vehicles ?
Thanks

You need to check the part number on your particular vehicle..
I was told by the part supplier that some converters change the ECU from the original Fiat chassis to suit their modifications.
Not sure if thats 100% but there does seem to be so many variations of the unit.

it was your "you're all doomed" message which I find amusing :D You can save the preaching for the sunday service.

Northern Tech took my money , still faulty on return so sent it back, more postage cost, got it back, still faulty and Northern Tech didn’t want to know. Beware of Crashdata and Northern Tech, they take your money with no guarantees. My advice, purchase a new airbag module. If you want to do it yourself use Coastal Motorhomes.

A clever person could fit a relay in the system so the light went out on starting the engine.

Not that I would advocate such a thing.

I’d just use tape 😉😂
Hi,

I had this problem and found if the vehicle battery voltage is low then the eco complains.
This was a fault with the Ecu's around 2016. I didn't have a battery monitor and it happened to me twice. My fault,
don't moan at Crashdata if you are fixing symptoms not the problem. The second time I failed to make sure the cables were properly clicked in and got the Eco warning and the flashing odometer which is a sign something is wrong with an Eco as they are all connected via a cam bus. I secured the cable and all is well. Make sure you have a BM6 or similar on the vehicle battery. Your local garage can test the error code on a OB monitor, unfortunately I can't find the code but a search will find it (on holiday).

Cheers

I have a 2015 van...the module I purchased from Coastal Motorhomes which they state as compatible is dated 2021 and different part number... I proxy aligned it myself and all working perfectly

Sent mine to northern autotec, they returned it free of charge with a bag of haribos attached.
No charge, and a recomendation to purchase a new unit from coastal motorhomes. No gripes from me😁

Be very wary of using crashdata... they offer no guarantees.. so as often happens you fork out the £80 to get it reset and a couple of weeks down the line it shows the same fault... crashdata will then demand another fee to redo it again... just bite the bullet and buy a new updated module from somewhere like coastal motorhomes...you will then need it proxy aligning with your ECU which Fiat professional will charge a fee to do if you go to them ... alternatively if you can find a fellow Motorhomer near where you live who has purchased "multiecuscan" Fiat software (like I have, but midlands based) and ask them to proxy align it for you..
I’ve had exactly this problem sent to crash data and now gone again I’ve got a new one on order from coastal motorhome is there any one near Wolverhampton who could program it in with the multi scan software As coastal do offer to program it for £25 but they need the motorhome on site any help appreciated 👍

Garage in Cannock did mine £50.
I fitted it then drove up to them, took a few mins and job done. If you need details send me a pm / conversation.
But I think any garage with software near you could do it.

Thanks for all the info I ordered this kit from Gendan who are an authorised multiecuscan Reseller and it’s arriving today along with the airbag module from Coastal Motorhomes
And they are happy to talk me through the alignment procedure today 👍

I was told by an MOT tester if its been removed it cannot be tested and they do not check what or what should not be in a particular vehicle.

Had a Rear brake light fail in the wiring loom. Could not fix without completely stripping out the car and the loom to trace the cable fracture. It was not the bulb as I has already tested the brake light separately.

MOT tester said either disconnect and leave the cable showing so the tester knows its disconnected or remove it all together. I choose to remove it all together and the car sailed through its MOT.

Does that not put yourself and other road users at risk, though?

How often is intermittently?
How likely is it will be off when you take it in?
You can't turn it off - only blank out the light in the dashboard with bluetach etc
Warning light has to illuminate and go off when turning ignition on, so you can't dodge it that way as that's an instant fail.
I personally would remove both block connectors from under seat's and spray with electrical spray, then plug into the obd and see if any faults stored, then clear codes that there, as may be just historic.
Other than that remove the negative battery terminal for 20 mins and re-fit, re-plug in obd read and clear, hopefully fault gone 🤷‍♂️

Why? The tester can refuse to test or just fail your vehicle if it is found to be trying to cover up defects or warning lights
If your mot is imminent and you don't have time to get a new ecu and proxy aligned you will fail the mot if the light is on. If it clears the mot then you can have it fixed after.
Without an mot you can't take it anywhere to have an ecu fitted and/or proxy aligned.🤷‍♂️

If it fails mot you can drive to get it fixed and retested I believe?

If your mot has expired then you can only drive it to a prearranged mot station. Granted if its failed and still in date you can drive to get it fixed and then re mot. (y)

Surely if it fails and say needs a part you can drive home then back when part is available to get it fitted then retested which is what I said /meant

And how do you get it proxy realigned when it's failed an mot. The mot garage is unlikely to do it. ?

Well again you can drive to get it done or it would mean any car that fails an mot wouldn't be able to be repaired?

Edit.

Quick Google and many answers one below.

Can I drive my car to get work done for MOT?

MOT rules and driving your vehicle:

If your MOT has expired, you can only drive it directly to a garage for an MOT retest or a repair. If you're stopped on the way by police, you must be able to prove that you have an appointment booked at a garage.

Check it out 👍

Can I just point out that after he had it repaired at crash data it went wrong again a few months later & he had to buy another one!
I've just bought a new one off Neo Bros on eBay for £180 that worked perfectly BUT you do need to proxi align it with something life Multiecuscan software.

Hi All

So now due for MOT ( Ducato 130) but airbag light showing on dashboard, intermittently.

Is this MOT fail now ?

Is there a dodge to turn it off ?

Fanx
I had this problem. It turned out to be the engine battery was dying, in fact, had died! Replaced that and the warning light disappeared.

Mines going in next week for new module and proxy realignment!💰💰💰
Plus an engine service and a black sticker Carthago damp test💰💰💰💰💰💰💰

There’s only so much overtime one can do🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🙄

ouch ,,, my service and damp was last week, I had the ecu done last year at premium £400 + ...its not cheap is it. If you need a mot try Hexthorpe mot centre tell him I sent you and get your axle greased up there
