For information to others who are contemplating buying a slow cooker to use whilst travelling I recently purchased a Morrisons 4.5 litre slow cooker which states 240 Watts on the box and has three heat settings; High, Low and Keep Warm.
Having used it a couple of times I suspected that the 'Low' setting was not much lower heat than 'High'. I have measured the Wattage on the three settings and the meter read 285/215/72 Watts which is 100%/75%/25%. Now my meter may not be high accuracy but the percentage figures should nevertheless be fairly accurate. My conclusion is to use the 'Keep Warm' setting as a low heat cooking setting.
Has anyone taken measurements for other makes of slow cooker?
