Silves Council is to build a caravan park in Messines as part of an expansion of the motorhome parking area network across Silves, Tavira and São Brás de Alportel.

The total cost of projects in these Council areas is €590,000, attracting a 70% grant from the European Regional Development Fund.

The Silves Council project has been approved so work can in providing a motorhome service area of 30 spaces in Messines, with the possibility of additional facilities including a reception area, a service station, fencing and gardens, washing and toilet facilities, a water network and lighting.

With a total area of around 5,500 m2, the Messines motorhome service area is part of a wider development that will include the Bus Terminal and an area for markets and events, plus car parking.

It is hoped that the new caravan park and bus terminal in Messines will be completed by the end of 2020.

Tavira and São Brás de Alportel Councils have yet to announce the location of their additional motorhome parks.

Never seen as many motorhomes on the open car park next to the market in Tavira, of course some have to get tables and chairs out, washing etc.

This would make an ideal place for a proper motorhome park.

They have been building it for the past two years!
Work stopped about 15 months ago!

I stayed for the whole of December at messines (at Andres aire)
And seen some workers doing bits in the new aire at the station on a couple of occasions ,so think some work has started again.

Now sat at tomato beach next to Villamoura ,bit windy today but still nicer than uk..
