Not very savvy about how you can get internet whilst away in your motorhome. We normally just use what's on our phones but with longer trips imminent this is not going to work very well especially if wanting to stream to the laptop for films - any ideas very welcome

Search "Mifi".
Treat it like a phone with no screen that has a SIM card in it. It should have better signal than a phone and then you connect to the Mifi by WiFi on your phone, tablet or laptop.

I use a MIFI device and a Smarty Sim Card, for my internet. I pay £20 a month for all you can eat data. So you can stream all the time. It works well and is on the Three Network. You can cancel it up to 6 months if you are not using it all the time

Dont think its unlimited data when in Europe,,think its restrickted to 25 gb a month,,BUSBY.

Check to see if you can tether another device to your phone via a hotspot. If so and your telly has an HDMI connection get an Amazon Firestick and there you go. If that's not enough follow the advice above for more data.

My EE account isn't limited, last time away in Europe I downloaded several episodes of The Repair Shop to watch on the laptop, used about 65gb... (but there does seem to be a 15gb limit), don't know how I managed to avoid that.

One problem that we have had with mobile internet in the van is when parked up in a rural site with low signal strength and then at night with the metallised window blinds closed not enough signal is getting through to my mobile phone inside the van.

One solution we used in summer was to put my work mobile phone in hotspot mode so that it gets mobile internet which is shared using Wi-Fi and then placing it up through the the roof vent and resting it on the roof of the van. This got a good mobile signal and all the devices in the van could now share the Wi-Fi.

Putting my work mobile phone on the roof was not a great solution for winter and I was always worried about driving off with it left on the roof so before Christmas I installed a Huawei MiFi and most importantly an external LTE aerial on the roof of the van. In a low signal area the external LTE aerial get a much better signal than a standard mobile. I did have to drill a hole in the roof of the van.

I used this kit from Motorhome Wi-Fi

Old, Cheap (£30 of Flea Bay) smart phone, with Data SIM in a sealed "sandwich box" on the roof. Piece of thread with a "reminder" on the end dangles through the "Heki" to remind NOT to drive off. (y) Set up "Hot Spot", and Roberts you Mother`s Brother!.(y)

Great solution but I would tie the ignition key to it just in case.

Will improve the data signal to the phone but the WiFi signal from the phone will be weak inside the van especially if your van has double aluminium walls.

We use a MiFi and have a small Ariel on roof, works well.

Seems to work OK?. But Putting it on the actual Heki. On a Piece of non slip mat has worked for me. Used it a lot in the USA where signal strength can be problomatic?

Rapido's are GRP try it on a van with both inner and out aluminium wall and see the difference. RV in the states would only be outer skin of aluminium.

Does depend on the equipment my van walls both inner & outer are aluminium. Using my wifi router in the van sitting outside the signal is very poor but my mifi in the van gives a reasonable signal.

Unlikely for us, I would say. I rather think this will be our last `van. Nothing out there (except perhaps the twin bed verision) would give us the space and mobility facility. As it is I have to keep C1. And that can only get more problematic in the future.
