Hi,

Recently purchased MLT 570 2019 60 Edition, love it and looking forward to first proper trip to Peak district next week. Can some-one clarify if the model has the Pual 2.0 construction, weird looking at literature it mentions Pual, other models mention Pual AL/AL. Does the MLT have Alu/Alu skin ? suspect it does. Our previous 578 (2012) had plywood inner. Certainly can not see any plywood internally, but was not sure on construction. We had a persistent damp patch on our 578 (numerous attempts at sealing all suspect areas still did not appear to completely clear it)

Thanks

Bump - can anyone advise?

The 2022 models have the Alu/Alu sandwich so if your van has the new style rear end with the LED rear lights it probably is an Alu/Alu construction.
The first Hymer with the Alu/Alu construction was the Dynamic line in 2016, since then when they have done a model facelift they have used the Alu/Alu construction.

Easy to check just drill a small somewhere out of sight, that will confirm it.

Hi

Thanks for replies, I have looked at the various brochures and archives and they are not clear - "famed PUAL construction, with aluminium sides and a GRP floor" - does that mean just the outer skin or also the internal walls? - Mine is a 2019 (probably 2018 model year). From what I can see I think the internal walls are aluminium, my 2012 578 had obvious plywood internal construction. Think I will refrain from drilling a hole

Does it have a microfibre cloth headlining? If so inner skin will be aluminum.

Why? Won't do any harm most of us are drilling holes all the time in our vans to mount things.:giggle:

I have the exact same model

As far as I know, there is zero ply or timber in the external construction.
(According the the salesman at Loudhams, who could be related to a well known blond politician)

The van has a framed PUAL construction, but I don't actually knows what that means.
However they don't leak !

They have been like that since the 70's the recent change is to the internal skin being aluminium so no timber at all in the body.

The OP is trying to establish if his MLT has a timber or aluminium inner skin.

It's not wood/ply !

I think that the GRP roof may be an extra and adds a few Kg to the weight.

Depends on the model it's not a roof but a sheet of grp bonded on top of the aluminium roof. Standard on our DL and a single sheet. On the Exsis we had it was an option I think it weight was 30 kg and it was 3 or 4 smaller sheets.

May be better to wait and, if you suffer hail damage, add it if necessary...

Hi

Thanks all, certainly nice and dry after all the storms, first real outing next week to Edale. As a poster said, I was mainly interested about the Inner skin, it defo has the GRP roof and floor which is great, not worried about the extra weight as 3.8T so plenty of payload.

Have you found out if the inner skin is Alloy yet?

Hi Lenny,

We have identical MH to Brains, sounds like no wood/ply in construction (y)
