Do you know what the biggest problem is? So called Journalists that write this type of bulls#!t article about one person's "social media post"
Lazy, non-verified crap.

Lets fact check the Cemetery story.

“Pop top up, bed set up inside and washing hanging outside the door.
“All signs they’ve been there overnight but of course can’t be certain."
"Would have asked them but occupants were nowhere to be seen.”

  • Occupants not inside, so it could not be verified if they had been sleeping.
  • The "carpark" appears to be nothing more than a layby
  • No photos showing the said laundry being aired.
  • The car park/layby also is right next to a lovely looking stretch of sand , so could it the the occupants were just having a nice day out at the beach and put their towel on the window to dry it? I mean, if that is the case then through the bleddy book at em:cautious:

Damn! Caught speeding again since they're up the East Coast to Orkney and back down the West Coast to the borders in one day!:tounge:
Yeah but it was easy during lockdown ...quiet roads

I'm pretty sure that pic was at balnakiel behind Durness. I've parked in that carpark many times. The cemetery is actually behind the wall and the parking is for the beach... the road continues past the beach and church to a golf course.

This is a photo of the alleged cemetery etc

Balnakiel Bay is a popular beach .. with 2 carparks . The last time I was up there the big house was empty and under going renovation. You can't drive in to the graveyard it's surrounded by a wall . So the camper could not have been in the graveyard. ... there were always campers parked up there as folk visit the beach.. I've stayed overnight in that carpark at least 50 times between 1991 and 2016 . Never had any complaints back then. I've not been back up north since 2017 as the nc500 branding has just ruined what it once was. I was on the campsite at Durness sands many times for family holidays , James the current owner and his parents before him were friends of my parents . My mum and dad had a static caravan on that site for 4 years in the early 90's .

Keep up at the back there!
They are parked at the gate to one of the best beaches up north.
The parking is on the entry road to the beach and the golf club.
The cemetery is to the side/back of the ruined church.
There's around 10-12 spaces on either side and is meant to be parking for the cemetery and the beach.
There's a house on the other side of the road.
We've seen motorhome parked in the golf club car park.

Francis Keith? Sango Sands Oasis maybe?

Yes sango sands is the campsite but no idea who Francis Keith is.

If he's the current owner then it's changed hands since 2016

Francis was the guy who used to own the site in the 70’s/80’s. He was the local councillor for North West Sutherland for many years.

Followed this thread from start.. but last dozen or so posts very confusing.. until I logged out and realised I was being ignored by a member..
Oh how very irritating and dare I say "childish" Ho hum...

I couldn't tell you it was late 80's I started going up there. Mum and dad had a static there early 90's and continued to go there with a motorhome till dad died in 2000, brother, sister and I still took mum up there regularly till around 2010 but it was James that owned/ran the site through that time. But he's at least in his 60's nowadays so no idea if he still runs it . They lived in a house on the hill over the road from the site

No overnighting now at Balnakeil beach, but you can park around the corner if you don't mind it not being level. There is also an Aire at the top of the road on the bend. £20 with facilities iirc.

The campsite was £12 a night when I used to go there. Now they want 20 quid for a carpark and they wonder why folk ain't paying it lol

Think you may have the wrong spot, it's never been £12, it's just up the hill on the bend before you drive down to the beach. Been open about 3 years ?

Not talking about the aire .. that didn't exsist when I was last up there. The campsite sango sands was £12 per night when I used to stay on it. But haven't been back up there since September 2017. I parked at balnakiel beach then with my frankia
