Hi
What has been peoples experience of the Milenco Original ?

I bought mine about three years ago and the lock has got gradually stiffer and harder to operate.
I am now frightened to use it in case it gets jammed on the wheel and stops me using my hotorhome !!

You can buy a replacement lock and 3 keys for about £20 but before i do that i am wondering if anyone has any thoughts. This device cost me £110 quid and i am a bit miffed that i am looking for spare parts so soon.

I have tried dismantling and regreasing the bolt mechanism but the stiffness seems to be in the acutal lock cylinder itself.

Not sure why it would fail - is been rained on a bit of course but no mud of grit incursion as far as i am aware

any thoughts lovely people ?

Try some graphite oil in the lock.
great reply. I never knew such a thing existed - bought some - its on the way.
Only problem is that i have already squirted in wd40 so may be too late
definately worth a try
thanks

Should be ok, just squirt some in the lock and turn it back and forth.

Have used graphite powder in door locks at home and it works a treat so should work in the clamp if it does let me know as I have the 3 piece clamp and don't want to be buying new lock at only 2 years old , question have you put grease on the two slide in pieces cos I did thinking it would make it slide in better but it made it worse ,had to remove the grease and it is now a lot better .

Wd40 would have probably washed out any grease that was already in there. It's not a lubricant. As suggested graphite powder/grease or silicon grease.

I used a few drops of graphite oil - worked a treat. As already said WD40 is a cleaner rather than lubricant so if the lock is REALLY stiff try soaking it in WD40 overnight, giving it a good workout and clean then graphite.

WD 40 has probably caused your problem as you should not use it on locks as it dries up inside. A pencil used on the key is one way to get some graphite inside.
