Spec on this is very rare, underfloor engined coach chassis but only 9m. 16 speed manual, had some sensible mods but maybe needs reupholstering (it is 29 years old)

I could be very tempted by the driveline although prefer the styling of our model.Looks well tidy Jon![]()
Its higher than a normal Clou liner because its of the chassis but this gives a completely flat floor almost to the windscreen a large garage and very quiet running.I'm not sure about those 3 steps and what looks like quite a small habitation door. It has aged well though.
Ive never actually seen one Martin, super rare. Will the motor be sitting through the lower floor Jon ? and will there be a service hatch like there is on Front engined ?
Hi Jon
I see it is advertised as 16 speed so I am guessing it is actually a 4 speed with splitter and range change (says he sounding like he knows what he is talking about) interesting video though for anybody that thinks driving a truck is easy
If I had 90k and a class 2 licence I would have deposited on that by now

Beautiful big bus Jon & amazing condition,Ive never actually seen one Martin, super rare.
I imagine the engine is under the living area so fairly easy to put an access panel.
My guess is it has whatever it needs by now, the motor must be sitting through the lower floor between the chassis rails so I imagine it has access from above, it's just a layout I have not seen so don't really know how they are built.Beautiful big bus Jon & amazing condition,i can't imagine it sitting too long before it's sold
Im quite sure it would have an engine access hatch and if not they're very easily done.. I've fitted several to various boats over the years

It certainly keeps you on your toes and you mind on the road Paul.Good grief and I presumed all the 90s running gear was less complicated![]()
Ah so they’re not just 90s running gear then Jock but are in much later units too?It certainly keeps you on your toes and you mind on the road Paul.It sounds complicated, but as Jon says, you get used to it quite quickly.
I prefer them to auto boxes.
Cheers,

Sorry if I misled you with my last post Paul.Ah so they’re not just 90s running gear then Jock but are in much later units too?
I think I might get away with 6+6 Jock but most likely still prefer the armchair and full autoSorry if I misled you with my last post Paul.
No, not much later than 90s/early 2000s.
As Jon again mentioned above, 12 x speed (6+6) became more common, and these days most (if not all) new Trucks are autos, which takes much of the pleasure of driving away for me.Others will no doubt disagree, sat in their armchair drivers seat with a full auto box.
Cheers,
Jock.![]()
I’m with jock on this, rather a manual any day, an old Volvo16 speed is a joy to drive (the short time I used one, off road of course) the old 1980’s foden S80’s and Haulmasters 12 speed was a pig and the old Magirus Deutz bonneted 6 wheel tipper was a bugger to get in any gear (all off road driving on colliery sites or power stations back in the day you didn’t need a HGV licence to drive a stocking lorryI think I might get away with 6+6 Jock but most likely still prefer the armchair and full auto![]()
Unlucky Ade.Yes I was always (and still am) a wannabe trucker but failed the medical at 21![]()
Just do it and put my name on itUnlucky Ade.
At 68, I am actually contemplating whether or not to do another HGV/PSV medical come October time.
Cheers,
Jock.![]()
Manual box is an extra cost option these days ( economics of scale)Ah so they’re not just 90s running gear then Jock but are in much later units too?
The easiest old style truck box was the Merc 10 speed fitted to some ategos, 5 gear positions with a splitter easily enough for Motorhome weights. By contract the early semi and full merc autos were ponderous things, especially on hills.I think I might get away with 6+6 Jock but most likely still prefer the armchair and full auto![]()
So how does the box know if you are splitting up or downThe easiest old style truck box was the Merc 10 speed fitted to some ategos, 5 gear positions with a splitter easily enough for Motorhome weights. By contract the early semi and full merc autos were ponderous things, especially on hills.
It’s usually via a lever on the gearstick, on the early F10/12’s it was on the dash and the range change on the lever, then around 84/85ish they did the 12 speed with both on the gearstick, I know nothing about the merc set ups.So how does the box know if you are splitting up or down![]()
