Just seen this on a Facebook post. Anyone got a recommendation as was planning to use the site end of July
Anyone used campsite instead if so how do you book and what's the cost?

Just some friendly advice for anyone visiting Metz in French avoid the aire next to campsite. N49.12371 E6.16887
The sevices were all blocked with toilet paper ect. Lots of migrants living in shanty caravans held together with duct tape.

Ditto 5 years and 2 years ago, don't go there to use services, possibly maintained by adjacent campsite. Pleasant sleeping area though and handy for city.

A few years ago, I pulled onto Metz Aire and drove off again.
If it's Metz itself you want, I can't help but there is a brilliant Aire at Pont a Mousson about 20 miles away. €9.50 a night including EHU, showers, toilets, free WiFi.

Metz itself definitely worth a visit. The aire is in a large car park and all spaces seem to be game.

Not far north of Metz (12 miles from the centre) there's a free wooded aire behind the tourist office at the Amneville leisure complex. We use it as our first stop on the way to Germany.

Here it is in Streetview

I was looking at the Amneville aire recently as a transit stop for a forthcoming trip and CC-Infos have it as €12 per night :( ...

However they also list a free parking spot about half a km down the road :) ....

Can't say we've ever had to pay, maybe because we've arrived later in the day when the tourist office is shut, but it might have changed. One of the open gravel parking areas at the back used to be listed as MH tolerant but it's not on CCI any more. Useful to know there's an alternative spot on site though. There's also no shortage of eateries due to it being a leisure destination.

Depends if want to see metz as it's too far out. For us depends what time we get there toyed with using metz campsite or just keep driving and stop lower down. This would mean getting to Lucerne much earlier next day given us more time in lucerne

Don't tell that, they'll all want to go there. :D We will be there in 2 weeks.

Its a stop we planned on way to Lake Garda first stop from Calais

Which we did some years ago, stayed on the campsite and vowed to return because it was so idyllic and a very short walk into town.

A touch tricky to find in a complex one way system. GPS should sort that.

Very sad if it's gone downhill.

Our next stop was Camping International, Luzern. Glorious place.

Then Garda.

The Aire is pretty full most if not all of the time but the municipal campsite is reasonable. We were there last summer enroute to Garda and a lot of building work was going on but that should be finished now. Metz is a wonderful city to walk around and visit, the indoor food market is amazing.

Not sure you can book in advance we have just turned up the last couple of times. Email for the campsite is
