does any one have one of these with a night heater fitted as i had some work done on camper as was told a night heater is fitted but i cant find any switches for it,grateful for any help regards colin

SOME, have a form of this. But it is linked to the heater system and its primary use is to fast start the Heating/Defrost. The control (if fitted) is on the panel low to the left of the steering wheel.

I have one, it supplements the Mercedes heater system and is not a night heater. It only works when the external temperature is below a certain level(can’t remember what it is), seems a shame it’s not a night heater, I did read somewhere that someone had tried to convert it but I don’t think it was successful

thanks ,have no switch at all,i noticed some bare wires on heater so im assuming they removed it ,ii will try and trace wiring back, many thanks

I have the switch on mine. It only works with the engine running and is to speed the engine warming in cold weather. Because diesel engines are more efficient than petrol engines they don't produce as much waste heat so take longer to get to operating temperature.

thanks,do you no what make your heater is and is situated under your headlight, thanks

thanks for that .just had a look at it ,quite involved ,i will check on mine and trace the wiring thanks

There are threads on the USA Sprinter forums showing how to convert these but not easy to follow. I am looking at doing my Sprinter as I have a calorific for hot water working from engine coolant.

Probably easier just buying a night heater off eBay.

This is the switch for ours

The rest button lets the cab fans run on for about 20 minutes after you stopped so you can take advantage of the hot engine.

The centre right button on ours turns on a heat exchanger/fan under our French bed which puts heat from the engine into the rear hab area.

we also have another switch that turns on the heater if you turn the ignition on. From what I have read this takes a signal from the d+ so I am going to try a +12v wire in place of that to see if it fires up. If not I have a box of relays and lots of cable, just need to get my head around it all, I believe most of what’s needed is already in place on ours.

The switch on the right is the one that turns the water heater on in our van

There are two different options that can be fitted, I think they list as pre-heater and Auxiliary heater.

Not sure if links are allowed, if not then this will be removed but you can see what may be involved here. Not an easy read made worse by different models/years being different https://sprinter-source.com/forum/showthread.php?t=668&page=22
