Good Afternoon

All you good people, now some of you know I’ve recently come back from Spain after travelling down the west coast of France and into Spain.

Again as some of you will know if you read my thread I was bitten by a dog and incurred some costs with doctors and prescriptions.

Now I’ve looked on line and I’m a bit confused “Yes it doesn’t take much” I was hoping that you good people will help me out with how to claim my expenses back, as simple as possible.

Many Thanks Tony

Not sure if this helps or is still relevant. Many years ago I claimed through travel insurance. They asked for details of e111. They paid me and I guess claimed through my e111.

If you got a bill from a doctor I guess you were charged as a private patient and I think you will only get that back if you have medical insurance.

Then just send your receipts to the medical insurance company but check the fine print first. You may have had to inform them sooner. Probably best to ring them first. :)

We claimed direct from the number on the EHIC card - if I remember rightly we e-mailed them a scanned copy of the bill and they paid out - it was for emergency dental repair
(Glad I looked at this as just seen out EHIC expired this month)

The EHIC only entitles you to free treatment if it's a state provider and the country you are in provides free treatment. In a lot of EU countries you do pay a proportion of the costs in which case you will have to claim that back from your insurance provider as @DBK says.

I was charged in France when I dislocated a finger. The charge was less than 50 euros so i just paid it but a receipt arrived with a form informing how to claim. I didn't bother but I would for a larger amount as it is expected.
