I installed a Maxxfan today in place of a Remis roof light. Rather conveniently, auto sleeper put some flex running from the roof light opening around the van to electrics area, probably for AC. I might as use it!

I’m looking for ideas on how to connect the other end to power. I could tap into the cabling from a nearby 12v socket, or I could find the lighting circuit. However, as the cable is right by the back of the Sargent EC700, am I able to use it in some way?

Cant answer re Autosleeper , but would advise that you give a good seal to circuit board see here

When I had a Motorhome I connected mine to the nearest lighting circuit, no issues at all and the load is low.

I would think that it was wired ready if the option of a fan rooflight was taken up by the first owner.
Our Elddis was the same and I found that the taped-off wiring was live and piggybacked on another circuit in our fuse board.
I pulled the fuse, fitted an Omnivent in place of the non-fanned vent, replaced the fuse, and away it went.
I take it that you have put a meter across the wire to see if they are live ?

It's not live. I found the other end, attached to nothing (meter tested to check it's the same wire!). It's just a run of flex should someone want AC in future, but it was never wired in.
