Always a Newbie
Going away on our very first trip tomorrow for couple of days in Braemar. Forecast for
next couple of days is hot so hoping to keep thing slightly cooler using the fitted Maxxair. What the best way to keep the temperature down, Air In, Air Out or Auto.

It's our first trip with a maxxfan installed, I'm enjoying cracking open the rear window next to where I lie in bed, with the fan pulling the air out at 20% with the blind shut, the cool breeze has been lovely

Definitely blowing out. Hot air rises and the fan is in the roof. So windows open maxfan on air out. And as said above, at night everything closed apart from the two windows beside the beds and maxfan on extract. We run ours at 30% and can’t hear it. Lovely cool air draw across you.

In or out is moving the same amount of air, but in you feel, but it won’t be cool air.

Mine is down at the kitchen end to extract cooking smells. To keep cool I find that having it going out and sitting by an open window gives me a nice breeze. It has taken me 3 years to discover this as previously I had it blowing in but it was too far away from me to be beneficial.

Sounds like Out appears to be the favoured method. May have to move our Dalmatian to the rear of the van so she can also benefit from the air.

Out for us, then you don't get the dust sucked in, have a few windows open and it works a treat. Our has a simmerstat type setting dial and when setup it goes on and off to maintain a temperature.

If the optional blind is fitted, does that prevent airflow?

The optional blind is really just for blackout.
There is a small run of holes at the side but there won’t be much airflow getting through them. See pic.

So my answer is yes it does prevent the airflow..

NB
Vent shown with home made pads which we use to to insulate in mid winter conditions or put in before long trip /motorways etc to improve sound deadening when travelling.

I move ours to the window during the day as the air on the roof is hot. Then sit next to it with a trigger spray of water misting myself 😇

We have had Fantastic vents in our last two vans, work a treat like that in 30° night temperatures.

Don't think you will be overly hot in Braemar. Its a lovely place but due to elevation in the hills its usually cool. We will be there Tues next week. Do take a drive up to Linn O'Dee waterfall. Lovely walks from the car park. Hope your first trip goes well.

The white top still let's some light in but is my choice as it's in the bedroom. The blind reduces airflow and I don't need any more lights there. 6 downlighters and 2 reading lights already.
A German family we used to occasionally meet up with covered their roof vents with cooking foil to reflect the heat worked well.

I have a fiamma clip on fan attached to front roof vent pulling the air in, and the extractor fan at the rear pushing the air out. The circulation keeps my three Dalmatians cool in the day.

Definitely fitted in the kitchen and set to out. Open any window or vent and there is a lovely stream of fresh air. Also the noise is in the kitchen and not over the bed. They are great.

If she's anything like our Westie she'll move herself to the coolest place!
