Glad everything went well and your van is running fine,I wasn't being funny when I said I didn't think insurance companies covered engine damage,I had always thought they would put blame on the owner and put it down to poor maintenance.
Your fortunate in the fact that you have the skills to do the job yourself,had that been a great many of us we would have faced a hefty garage bill !
Am I right in thinking you did it yourself and if so why did the insurance not pay up ?

Hi Vlad, Yes, I did the work myself, not too hard, just awkward and dirty.Also at the end I could not be sure every single bit was out. The insurance Company sent an 'engineer' round to look, but was dumbfounded when I told him what had happened. I did not get an answer which suggested they would pay for the repair, just got on and did it. Foolish perhaps?
