Does anyone have experience of how much solar you can squeeze on the roof and and if they have fitted a B2B charger and swapped battery for lithium so an inverter can be installed

After years of it 9 metre Swift although we love the space have decided after spending months in Greece amd Italy this yea we are missing out on too many places to visit due ti size of the MH!- a common your thought I’m sure !

Hi there 😊 I'm Paul
Like yourselves we have had various large vans from big RV sizes to several 9m Burstner Elegances over the last 10 years or so and after visiting Turkey, Greece and several other places have decided to downsize to our latest van, like yourselves we were missing out on lots of places to visit, plus more recently we've noticed a lot more sites declining tag axle vans especially in Italy and Greece, also we found Croatia not overly keen on them either so our latest van is a little Malibu 640LE which we absolutely love and wish now we'd done the move years ago!
Anyway we've done a few upgrades although didn't go too mad as the van is still under warranty, we've upgraded to rear air suspension which we found great and also a solar panel although we haven't yet switched to lithium but that may well be our next move but in answer to your query regarding solar panel we went for a Victron 175W panel which you'll see by the pics doesn't leave a lot of room left on the roof...
Hope this is of some help to you and lastly enjoy your new van, ours is great! 👍
(Let me know if you do go down the solar/ inverter route and how you get on, as that may well be our next upgrade)
Panel size:
Length 1485mm
Width 668mm
Depth 30mm

Cheers Paul

Hi Paul

Thanks that’s really helpful -we visited the Carthago factory showroom last week and convinced ourselves that’s the vehicle- now we need to see how long it will take to get one

How has the aircon unit reducing the light in the bedroom been a concern? which one for you fit ?

Thanks again
Frank

Hi Frank
Glad you're decided on going for the Carthago Malibu, for us it's our first PVC but as regards build quality etc it's up there with the best of them, we're very pleased with ours,
As regards the aircon I did think about the possible darkness too but with all the windows on the sides and rear doors we hardly noticed the rooflight gone, plus there's loads of other light too so wasn't an issue, we went for the Truma Aventa unit very compact and great performance and it's been wired in with our Truma control panel which means you can set it do all sorts as well as just using the remote control but if light was a concern you could go for the Dometic freshlight unit, there's not much difference in price, we had 1 in a previous MH doesn't open but gives the same light in as the original skylight,
Anyway if there's anything else I can tell you just drop me a message, I'm no expert but will do my best
Hope you get yours soon, I've heard the waiting times are horrendous but you never know 🙂
Paul
PS forgot to mention another great thing about them...... no more "oh sh#* will we fit in there!" You can park it on a sixpence! 😂🤣
