So I’m leaving J29 M1 area (Chesterfield) about 4pm

Plan was drive close to Malham Cove and find a nice pub for dinner and stay in carpark or a nice lay-by / lake stop and cook in the van. Then tomorrow do the walk over Malham Cove.

It will be un walkable on the rocks in this rain. So looking for an alternative within 2 hours ish of my start point if anyone can recommend anywhere.

Got 2 dogs that will need walking or an away from busy main road giant carpark type thing so it’s safe with them just tripping around outside the van for a week

This was last night. Norfolk Arms at Ringinglow Sheffield. Something similar would be ideal

Or a beach view etc etc.

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks

Craven District Council provide marked, MH only, overnight bays at their central car parks at Ingleton, Settle and Skipton.

This is the one at Settle...

Ended up deciding to try Malham. Just in Skipton at the council parking in town. £5 over night. Been to a pub. A micro pub and just had a Chinese in the van. Settling down with a G&T now and a movie and hoping it’s not too wet tomorrow to try the walk. I’m sure some part of it will be doable. Staying tomorrow night at the bottom of Malham in the car park

Which van is yours I'll pop up and Rock it!!

Nice hope the nightlife don't keep you awake?!
I ran through at 2am a couple of months ago (night training run for Leeds Liverpool canal race) and the kids were still walking around half drunk!

cheers James

The one on the left ;-) honest lol

Station Inn at Ribblehead let you stay over for free and the food and beer are both very good. Just avoid parking too close to the reed bed system at the bottom of the car park. It can pong a bit…

If you fancy a bit of a white knuckle ride after your walk, try this route over the fells to Settle.
Spectacular views (if it's not raining).

Dont forget the T-cut for the stone wall encounters;)

You can walk mostly the same route as above only on the bridalway, just watch out for mad mountain bikers.
