Was really happy till I googled elddis- Magestic 196 and all I see is bad reviews and crap build quality, Damp issues, uncaring dealers...now I can actually fell my nuts starting to shrink ...have we made a mistake...please advise...its a lot of money to end up with a piece of rubbish.
Mark.

Remember it's a "Refundable" deposit.....

Plenty of reviews/help on this forum.

Welcome 🍻

The Eldiss warranty will reduce to 6 years not 10,so only 5 years remaining, but you need to register with Eldiss. The payload without extras is 580 kgs ,which may sound a lot but it's a 6 berth.. If its just the 2 of you ,then no issues.
Check the history and you need to do a damp check along the floor to wall joints and the top corners. (y)

The moho is basically new..would I still need to get the dealer to do a Damp check ?...know nothing about a damp inspection what should the meter be sitting at ?

It doesn't matter if it's new or not ,it still needs a damp check
Usually damp readings by dealers in hab checks are reported as.
0-15% not recorded as no cause for concern
15-20% requires further investigation ,get a recheck after 3 months
Readings above 20 - possible remedial work required ,may be visible signs,IE discolouration.
Readings above 30%-structural damage may be occurring and deterioration
If you don't know how to use a damp meter ask the dealer to show you and make sure it's switched on when he goes around the van..they are normally set to alarm if damp is found.
Don't just accept a paper report advising one has been done ,it's takes 10 mins only to check around.

In order to keep the warranty up to date the damp check will need to be carried out by an approved service centre. The exact conditions are on the Elddis web site.

I know nothing about Elddis but damp and weight are not something that dealers like to talk about. As has been said previously the weight will definitely be a concern if you are thinking of this as a family van but should be okay for two adults.
Can I suggest that you read up on the forum here about weights, damp etc BEFORE parting with your cash, looks as though you have 48 hours so I won't keep you any longer (y)

Weight won't be an issue..only the two of us and a wee doggy.

We have had Elddis Majestics from new for our last two vans - a 120 and, currently, a 155. There were teething problems with both, but nothing too serious, and they were fixed by Elddis/Marquis. There are always bad reviews of all makes of ‘van - but very few write reviews when nothing is wrong with them! Just confirm what warranty you’ll have, and that the payload is sufficient - if just the two of you, it should be ok. Let us know how you get on.;)

A decent damp meter for myself??
I’ve just bought one of these (after a recommendation from Two on Tour ).

Hi pal..even though the moho is only 10 months old should it have had 1 hab check done already ??

Any reputable dealer will include a hab and damp check, get a written copy of both.(y)

Be careful going through narrow entrances with it and don't put much weight at the back it's got a really big rear overhang. As others have said all makes have good ones and bad ones but I would still get an independent check before buying I know it's really new but could have been rejected by someone else.

We’ve got a 2020 Compass Avantgarde 196 (same animal). We love it but you do finish it yourself and it’s a mix of laughably poor and actually quite good. Great value, and once I’d added all the things it didn’t have, it’s a great choice. No regrets but we bought it knowing it’s built down to a price and so were prepared for some finishing off.

In years 1, 2, and 4 through to 9 the service must be completed no more than 60 days either side of the anniversary of the date of purchase.

In Years 3 and 10 the service must be completed no more than 60 days before the anniversary of the date of purchase.

No service interval should exceed 14 months. Failure to service the vehicle within the specified time limits will invalidate the warranty.

Regarding payload, surprisingly we were quite well within the 3500kg limit. I fitted rear air assist anyway which massively improved the stability and wobble when at rest, and uplated to 3850kg for a bit more leeway. Rear overhang is present but never been a problem yet. I’ve fitted a towbar which has added some piece of mind.

I took the view that I wasn’t prepared to spend my time year after year paying for an over priced cursory check at an inflexible dealer for a warranty that the manufacturer would try to wriggle out of anyway. All in an industry with notoriously appalling levels of customer service. Mine’s dry as a bone by the way (year 2) but I’m meticulous with upkeep and well aware of potential problems.

I'm a trucker of 28 years so overhangs are second nature to me .

We wanted more "living" space ..we get the best out of both worlds
With layout it's each to their own but I couldn't see us using more than one seating area and when we had a caravan we pretty quickly tired of making up beds.

Just looking through the pictures why would 2 people want about 11 seats but make up a bed every night ?
The attraction of the layout works for us. We were drawn to the massive space from front to back given by the rear saloon. Putting the bed together (either the front or rear depending on how we’re feeling) is a price worth paying for the daytime living space. We’re yet to use the drop down bed. Everyone’s comments about the layout being really important are spot on when choosing a van.

Just noticed it appears to have wheel trims rather than the advised alloys. Can’t zoom in on the pictures so can’t be sure but worth checking. The option pack of passenger airbag, air conditioning, tank insulation and heaters etc is well worth having and almost impossible to retrofit. Assuming it has them of course…

No, they are alloys - I have the same ones on my Majestic 155.(y)

Yeah pal they are alloys and it has a winter pack aswell...one thing that concerns me and you might aleave my worries is the shower area . I know there is a shower curtain that covers the toilet area but then the actual toilet door into the toilet becomes one of the shower walls so to speak ..is the door waterproof/leak proof when the shower is being used. ?

Tbh , if it all checks out inspection wise that looks a well tidy van , have fun!
