My 2021 Autosleeper Broadway has an underslung LPG tank which is supposed to take 20 Litres (at the 80% max level). Recently the LED dash guage went into the red so I had a look at the normal guage on the tank & it said nearly empty. I was a bit surprised as it seems to be using amlost double what I would have expected.
Just managed to find a garage with LPG working & it's only taken 10 Litres! I presume therefore that both the dash mounted LED lights & the actual tank guage are both faulty? The amount of gas used makes more sense.
Anyone else have the same?

Just out of interest. When we left the 3fffs rally I filled up our 2 Alugas cylinders. One empty and one in use.
Morrisons of Doncaster had LPG at 0.797 per ltr. So £24 for 30 ltrs
Not bad in this day and age.
Anyone know the average price in France?

Gauges on the underslung LPG cylinders are useless. On my 25l capacity (about 20l @ 80% limits) it will be red when I have used just over half.

The LED or other gauge inside your van is simply a repeater of anything on the cylinder itself.

On the GasIt site there is an image showing how the gauge is operated, basically a float device within the cylinder. As the cylinder diameter of a 20l ish is is small that float has such a limited rise and fall the readout is horribly limited in accuracy and the thing is probably bouncing on it's empty falls whilst there is still plenty of lpg swilling around.

Even the angle of the cylinder (rotation) from horizontal (105 degrees?), can be critical to accuracy, and if the van is parked on a slight slope, or even rests at say a nose down angle, could be screwing it up.

I have the same tank on my Winchcombe and it too shows empty when still half full. Not too bad that I have more in reserve than expected but it does make me a little bit anxious about running out.
I have enquired about swapping it for a bigger tank (60lt so 48ltr LPG capacity instead of 20) but at £1001 it is not going to happen.
Last bulk tank conversion including everything to move away from bottles was £721 approximately eight years ago so prices have really gone up a lot when I only need the tank and carry bracket.
Yes I could fit myself and save a bit but cannot be bothered with the potential insurance hassle.

I am so lucky that the previous owners maxxed it out and had Autogas 2000 fit a 70 litre tank with 56litre useable capacity.

I would love a bigger tank but just cannot justify the latest costs involved. The original fit tank is probably ok for our use but refilling it on every trip is looking like being the norm.

We have got 2 11kg Gaslow cylinders which the moho came with. It has the impact shut off regulator and Truma Duo auto switch over. In summer mode a green light is displayed when drawing off no 1 cylinder. When it changes over to the second cylinder the light turns red. I know I have time to fill up. I also have a extension pipe which screws into the Gaslow filler and can have any type of regulator screwed onto the other end. When we are in Spain I get a Respol propane cylinder from the scrapyard and exchange it on the site for a full one. Connected via the pipe it draws gas from that first. When we leave I sell the cylinder back to the scrapyard.

In winter mode the Truma Duo heats the regulator when the temperature drops.
