Absolute newbie !
Hi All
I’ve been lurking in the corridor, now a member and Ta Dah ! Owner of a 2001 Hymer B544.
Been out twice in her for long weekends in Derbyshire and Lincolnshire coast and me and the missus are absolutely besotted!

So back from weekend and I’d purchased led replacements for the bulbs ( would like to use sites without EHU on occasion).
All goes well until I tried to replace the fluorescent light mid cabin.
First to admit I’m no sparks, but seemed simple enough, remove the ballast/ starter then wire as per 12v ?
There is a blue and black wire protruding from the cabinet but I can’t get anything on my voltmeter, oh well I think (after 3 hours) I will leave it until tomorrow. Put tools in cupboard, light not working, hmmm, bathroom light also not working.
What have I done? Help !

It's a hymer, the wires do not conform to a standard you would expect. The LEDs need wiring red positive to blue

If you took the old light apart without switching off, you likely blew the fuse

Yes, for saying it’s German (incoming stereotype) blue wiring for positive seems somewhat idiosyncratic!

Open question - is it worth changing a fluorescent tube to LED ? Always thought a fluorescent was fairly economical anyway.

Just to throw in that LEDs sometimes need to be put in the correct way around so if bulbs are GU10/MR16 two pin type it may be worth swapping them around

My Autocruise had fluorescent lights in the lounge. They appeared to be 12v but they had an inverter and starter. If you want to replace with LEDs make sure you remove the inverter stage and only wire to a 12v supply.

Afternoon all. Went to bed content that a schoolboy error ( not switching off 12v supply, not then checking fuses) would be easily fixed . However.......
Just to add, I’m not a complete numpty re 12v systems, worked on boats, fitted solar to them etc .
This morning came to van , switched off 12v at electroblok (got the surprise of my life when the boiler emptied!) checked all fuses, all good but changed the 2 kreis ones anyway. Switched power back on, now .....nothing, de nada, no green light on the panel and no 12v anywhere. Checked leisure battery fuses (I’ve now got the seat off, missus not impressed) all good.
Will sign off as in original post , Help !

Thanks Big1,
But apart from turning 12v off then on again I can’t see that I’ve f messed up the electrobloc?

Don't want to worry you but I've heard that the off/on switch on the EBL is notoriously temperamental. Try switching it on and off many times to see if that resolves the problem.
