Does anyone have any suggestions for where I can source a replacement Prostor canopy?
We lost ours on Sunday 10 miles from Calais in the very high winds on the motorway, ripped it straight off and left the brackets!
Luckily no one behind us got hit by it.

not sure if either are the size you need though?

is that part of the motorhome trim still attached to the awning? if it is, that might be more expensive to replace than the awning itself.
Thanks MisterB... The second one might be a possible one as long as the profile fits the remaining brackets.
Our outfit is a Mercedes Sprinter LWB so no, no motorhome trim lost.
I think I will give that second one a go if the length is correct, Cheers!

Damn... my brackets are for the 4m canopy.

If I had a choice I wouldn't have a roll out awning. I have a pop up quest which suits our needs. If I needed a sun canopy I would just buy a sail type canopy.

Everyone to their own I guess!
This canopy was fitted when we had the van and still has the brackets, so for us it makes sense to try and replace it.

Just checked for the possibility of an insurance claim and noticed that any claim will have the excess increased from £250 to £500 if not reported within 48 hours.
Cheapest I can find a replacement for is just under £800! :cautious:

Even allowing fir very strong winds, I would think there must have been something else wrong with the fitting fir it come off like that

scary

Not sure quite why you reversed back to clear the road though, wouldn’t walking back have been quicker and safer

How come you were able to photograph the lost item but not able to recover it and shove it in the van ?

Broaden your search to include Fiamma awnings, they're more plentiful than your original.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

The fitting of it seemed very sturdy (As fitted by the conversion builders), but it was extremely high winds.
It was a good few hundred metres before we were able to stop safely. Reversing back on the hard shoulder seemed the best idea at the time and probably the safest.

Yes we thought of the Fiamma awnings but that would mean drilling for new brackets. The originals are still on and appear ok. I think maybe the lip on the awning extrusion must have failed.

The awning had been driven over by a lorry so was mangled on one end so essentially knackered, and it wasn't safe to recover as the side door opened up onto the carriageway... it would have been easier if we were in the UK though!

Fair enough. Hope you get sorted and glad you are safe ?

they were meant to be glued AND bolted onto the bodywork, somebody was a bit lazy.
