Hello there – I need some help here !

I have removed my loose bathroom sink and I’ve got some silicone sealant to seal around the lip on the underside edge before reinstating. But it seems the job might have become more complex as the plughole assembly has dropped out of the basin. There are two seals, one is black and pops through the basin from the bottom and there is a thinner white seal which sits between the metal plughole and the topside of the basin. I'm not sure if that one is a seal or some sort of sealant material, perhaps silicone ? I’ve attached photos. Can I just clean this up and refit or it is more complicated. I hate plumbing.

Thank you very much for your help.

The sink outlet looks like a Reich plumbing system.

There should be a rubber O-ring between the chrome sink outlet and the upper sink surface. Below the sink there should a flat wide rubber circular gasket between underside of sink and outlet. The upper and lower components are clamped together using the central screw (as shown in one of your pics).

I find it difficult to understand what your problem is........unless you've lost the O-ring or circular gasket ???

Thank you. I wasn't sure about the O-ring. It was stuck to the upper sink surface and looked like it was sealant. I'm sure it was sealant as I had to clean it off the chrome sink outlet

This doesn't look like the Reich sink outlet.

The chrome sink drainer looks like a Reich component with the central screw. This is normally sold with a plug with central spindle.

Reich do a trapped outlet or an untrapped outlet but both these are normally black. Your untrapped outlet is WHITE so maybe from a different manufacturer.

I've been looking on the web and it looks like a Dometic Siphon AC530 with only ONE rubber component.

If it was me l would clean all the oil sealer off with petrol it will rot silicon so need to do it outside. Dry fit he waste back together then put the sink in. Using mask tape mask the area around the worktop and the sink. Strip and refit the waste I would use silicon on it all so. Then seal the worktop sink back pushing gently to allow the sealer settle then with a soapy finger from the back around the front round the back leave for twelve hours. Job done Ready for well deserved brew 😀

Jobs a 'good un'. Will give it 24 hours to check. Cheers !
