Hello all,

I need a replacement bulb - where is the best place to get them? It is an LED spot in the ceiling area of a Globecar Roadscout., but I am sure it is common to other globecars.

The lamp will be a stock replacement I’m sure.

Remove it and post a picture ?

Aten lighting do loads. Check out their website.

ahhh. I hear a wealthy man (electrician)

Next point is, a lamp is in the corner, or on the table with a bulb fitted in It.

The bulb is a spot light in the ceiling of the van. I am not keen to take it out as the holder is difficult to tmove its on springs and tricky to get back in again as far as I understand! Thats why the message is in the globecar forum I thought another owner would know.

problem is, it could be a G4 LED with rear or side pins. Some don't have a user replaceable LED and you need to open them up and solder in a replacement.

TheBig1 thanks for thinking of that. I think I will leave it for now and let the guy who is replacing a 12v socket sort it out.

Thanks to all the contributors above

My post is only relevant to the post above it. An electrician (wealthy man) will always say that bulbs are planted in the garden and that lamps go into light fittings. The fact they are the only people who think this proves that they are wrong, and also the fact that in a house, you may well have a standard LAMP, or a table LAMP, proves this. But this will not stop them. ???

Really!

The producers of these BULBS must be non professionals.

pappajohn ill return to the man that started it all ?

In 1878, Thomas Edison began serious research into developing a practical incandescent lamp and on October 14, 1878, Edison filed his first patent application for "Improvement In Electric Lights".

Even sparky's call them bulbs today

I can’t help it if non professionals post stuff on the internet.

Only the new breed of sparkles call them bulbs ?

The reason being in 1878 the popular form of lighting was by gas or oil LAMP.
a bulb denotes an enclosure, you couldn't have an enclosed gas or oil flame.

1878...gas lamp, oil lamp, electric lamp.... Because they hadn't thought of calling it a bulb.

Oh, and the yanks call it a GLOBE.

A photo of the lamp would help to getting the cover off, ours have a metal c spring to release the cover very rarely do you have to take the whole fitting out

Just for those who like photos of items to provide light this is the duff one in situ. I'm not taking it out until I have a replacement! off course having looked in daylight I can now see that it has some numbers I can try tracing....duh!

If you’ve got strong nails/finger tips you can pull the light fitting straight out.

It’s retained by two or three spring clips ?

My guess is the lamp has two side connections looking at that.

I think that is the same as in our Hymer. This Dometic one does not have a replaceable lamp/bulb/whatever, so you have to replace it with a complete new unit. That seems to be the case in most LED light fittings nowadays. I guess the thinking is that the LED will last a lot longer, but that is not always the case with Dometic units (been there, got the T shirt)

It could have a wire has come off the back if you take it out you can check it has power .

With my one you just put a fingernail between the lamp and the ceiling and pulled down. Once down it had a short enough lead to expose the connection to the power wires. So your suggestion should be easily achieved.

those are glued or heat sealed during production, so changing the LED is slightly awkward. Crack or cut the light open exposing the LED, solder in a replacement, reglue it and push back into its hole
a 2 minute job that takes an hour, but buying matching replacement lights is often hard or expensive to replace a 99p LED
