Ljubjana to Istrian Peninsula (2 Viewers)

Has anyone driven from Ljubjana to the Istrian Peninsula and can give me a (rough) idea of whether you have to wait ages at the border crossing? Or is there even a border crossing point? I'm trying to plan our next trip (now looking like it may be in May 2024) and it's a lot cheaper to fly into Ljub and pick up the hire Moho from there than to fly into any of the Croatian airports...

We has done it a few years ago, and the boarder was just sign on the road, and that was before Croatia joined the EU. So I would think it will just pass without any delay at all.

I think it depends on the route used.
There used to be border checkpoints on main roads into Croatia but not any of the many minor roads in.
I never experienced much or any delay. On my most recent visit I used a minor road and no check point.
That may all have changed now they're fully integrated into EU ?
