Hi

Who knows where I can get lithium batteries fitted on my motorhome. I have a Elldis auto quest 185. 2 years old. I phoned oak tree Motorhome’s and have emailed Roadpro but haven’t had any reply’s. I know everyone is busy. But I would like to get it done.
Thanks
Richard

Hi - I bought from KSEnergy who will fit free if an easy fit i.e. A class or coach built. Neal the owner fitted on my PVC at a charge but it was 3 hours work due to seat removal etc.

I am not sure what your van is but happy to give more info if you want. He is based in the Midlands.

I recommend Vanbitz in Taunton or SAP Doncaster. Both excellent companies.

I know Roadpro are very busy but unusual for them not to reply, might be worth another email just in case it has been lost in the ether. From Essex you have lots of options. As said previously Vanbitz or KS direct, they also fit.

Hi
Thanks for that but Rob from oak tree Motorhome’s got back to me I’ve got to send some info.
Loverly to think we are all on it.
Thanks so much for your help.. xx

Had mine fitted at Oak Tree,,BUSBY.

Remember

if you haven’t already got one you’ll need a charger with a Lithium profile. If you have solar then you need enough to keep them topped up as Lithium likes a good charge into them.

Also if doing a lot of off grid then i’d also consider a DC to DC charger so you can pump some heavy current into them whilst driving.

You may of course have all this but it’s worth knowing if not, Lithium is not just a battery swap

Al 👍

Also had Oaktree fit lithium batteries and other necessary gear. Had to take my place in the queue but worth it in the end. Very good fitting and managed to add a second leisure battery. Good luck.

Hi Ingwe
That’s good to know. We are all booked in for 29th January. Looking forward to it just hope the weather is good.
Thanks

I am informed by Neal from KS energy that the Gel setting on my charger is suitable for their batteries

I asked Udo Lang at Schaudt Regarding using the EBL setting on the EBL119 for Lithium charging.
his reply was as follows
“The EBL with the IUoU charging line in Gel mode is possible to charge in a good way Lithium battery types with a battery management system on it.
So the best is to ask at the battery producer´s help desk for the ok to charger with the EBL with 14,3V and 18A output the Lithium battery.”

Following this, I asked Neal at KS-Energy and his reply was
“yes the Lead/GEL setting should be used on these”

That inverter sounds a tad small, you will be only be able to power a very limited range of items.

It really depends what the OP wants to power - but reasonable to challenge the thought process behind the selection in case it isn’t fit for the intended purpose
Inverters are a compromise - too big and there is a lot of power draw even when on standby, and they can quickly drain a battery if used at the full 1000W / 2000W capacity.
i have a Victron PSW 500W inverter and it is perfectly adequate for my purposes - (charging 36V eBike batteries) a bihher inverted is physically larger, heavier and would be difficult to fit and be unnecessary for my needs

if that’s what they say then you have to trust them, the Victron charger sounds like it may be a bit small depending on how much solar you intend using it how much you may choose to add on

i’ve had a 75/15 on my 240w system and going up to a 75/30 on my new 450w system

if you look the price difference on a 75/10 and 75/15 is about £15 so why wouldn’t use the larger one

As to the inverter, ours is a 2kw PSW and it’s just powered our toaster and kettle no issues, we’re at Burrs and had no mains hookup since yesterday afternoon 😉

I’m a bit belt n braces tbh so always plan for the worst or try to

I thought you may be interested in a photo of the battery installation. Our van is a 2012 Bailey with only one leisure battery. They fitted 2 x110ah lithium batteries under the passenger seat as well as the B2B charger and next to it, on the left, the smart shunt.
Not shown is the new MPPT solar controller, fitted under the left hand side bed and the new Lithium profile mains charger which fitted within the distribution box, like the original Bailey charger. So far very pleased and will give it a road test as we go to Bristol for three days tomorrow.
Edit: the finished job has covers over all the battery terminals.
