Be aware if you shop in Lidl.
Lidl have been running a promotion for several months where if you spend £200 in a month you receive a £10 voucher to spend in store the same month.
This month they have changed the target to £250 and the voucher is now 10% off your next shop.
Unaware of this I used my voucher on a £19 shop yesterday and only got £1.06 discount as it now doesn't apply to alcohol purchases.
I feel a bit cheated, customer services told me 'sorry but you have used your voucher'. So I'm off to Aldi today instead.

We’ve just got a £2 voucher for spending £100 but it has to be used by Sunday:mad:

Yes it used to be £2 after reaching £100 spend then £10 if you reached the £200

and it's even reached Thurso!

The out promotion had been running for a long time I think about 2 years we have managed to take full advantage of it when we are not traveling.
Can't see us reaching the £250 very often on the new one & didn't release they had excluded alcohol now.

I'm amazed you have a 'customer services' in Lidl's ? Here we have 3 members of staff inc manager on tills ,stack shelves, unload deliveries, etc.same at Aldi's.
Lidl & Aldi are fairly good on staff levels in the UK, our local Lidl if it's busy they are very quick to open more checkouts (up to 7).
Germany & Holland are diabolical often only one checkout open.

Ah, customer service is online via chat. Your right about the few staff doing everything in store.

They may not be excluding alcohol in England, it's possibly only Wales or maybe also Scotland

Thing is even if you spend £250 to receive the 10% voucher you then have to spend another £100 to get the same £10 discount you got before. So to receive the full £10 off a total spend of £190 a month now becomes £340

They are just like any other business battling increasing costs, so are looking to save where they can.
In this instance they decided not to give as much discount, hopefully they have saved a few increases on products by doing so.

All the major multiples have one huge huge spreadsheet, they take a penny off beans in a promo and see where it leaves the bottom line , and then put a penny or 2 pennies somewhere else, and as long as the spreadsheet hits the correct margin they are happy.
The other tactic is to squeeze suppliers till they barely make money, but I think even the best of that has been done.

As ever if not happy and a better deal is elswhere vote with our feet as the OP done, its the only way to keep them competitive

I noticed the change when it came about and explained to Andrea how it wasnt as good.
We still go to lidl as we like the no fuss approach.
We are still spending less by going there as opposed to other ( more up market) supermarkets.

It was good while it lasted we will carry on shopping there still a lot cheaper than anywhere else.
