New motorhome is LHD, any suggestions on how to improve the drivers view at junctions, bought a Fresnel lens, will fit when we get the van back..

Any other suggestions?

When coming up to a junction where you intend turning left, try to keep as square as you can to the main road rather than turning slightly as you would do with a rhd vehicle. By keeping square on you will then have a better view to your right through your front side window.
ps. Both of my Motorhomes have been lhd, so can’t really comment on rhd as never driven one!

Fresnel lens work a treat just make sure you fit it with the "Top" to the front as they are designed for looking down behind a vehicle.
Another option is to fit a camera.

Also, beware when you get to France if you have coach type mirrors.
Those tidly little cars the French love can be completely hidden from view as they come bombing onto a roundabout.
You need to move your head to look round the mirror. Had a few near misses where a Micro suddenly appears right in front.

Richard.

Nearly ran over one of those little cars a few years ago! Driving down a slip road onto a busy dual carriageway and speeded up to be able to merge into a gap in the traffic when at the last moment Anne (co pilot) shouted out to alert me of one of those 50cc? things flat out in front of me on the slip road doing about 15kph. David.

I haven't experienced any problems so far with mine, there is a large window behind the front passenger seat and to be honest it's easier then in the car which is RHD where i have to twist around in the seat.

We don't have that luxury.

I would put a camera on the right hand side of the windscreen facing forward and an extra mirror on the right hand side showing the front corner at road level, like trucks have.

The point we had to watch when driving a right hand drive C class in Europe is the rear view mirror can obscure oncoming traffic at junctions. Not a problem now we have an A class. The same might apply for a LHD in the UK.

Put a rear view camera on the side ?
I just thought of this, anyone done it ?

Yes I bought a cheap camera and monitor off Ebay and fitted it to top of passenger window on inside ran cable behind dash and along window rubber camera has an adhesive so stuck to rubber. it works a treat👍😊

I’ve always wondered about this, we have LHD, OK when with a passenger but nice to know it works on your own. 👍

I am sure you are talking about junctions in the UK. Assuming your hab door is on the right, make sure the window in it is unobscured, you will soon find the right angle to be able to see traffic coming from the right at shallow angle junctions. There is just such a junction only a quarter of a mile from where we keep our LHD MoHo. If the junction is more of a right angle try to position yourself so that the hab door viewing angle works.

you can buy nice mico cameras that mount on the mirror casing or awning box angled back down the van and a decent quality monitor with all cameras shown or tap screen to select the view needed. It's a job on my to do list with our A class

Yes, works fine but Fresnel lens is very effective and a fraction of the cost. I've probably used the camera twice since fitting the Fresnel

Yes - I did that on my last ‘van as I had the same issue turning right at oblique T junctions. Attached the camera to the LH mirror (using Velcro for easy removal), then ran the cable back to my Garmin satnav along the dash……

As others have said pull up square at junctions .

If you have a window behind the front passenger seat open curtains and blinds..

If you don't already have them fit blind spot mirrors..

Rear view camera one facing down one facing straight
