What is the best way to level a van with a tag axle please.

Thé first one I had 2008 was a little low at the front and I used the high lift levelling ramps, the current one 2017 is much higher at he front and only needs normaul Fiamma or Millenco ramps. Sometimes only need to raise one side at the front, or a couple of block on the back wheels if the whole side is low. Very rare. For 5 k you could have self levelling jacks of course.!

If you don't have hydraulic levellers, (we didn't on our Hymer tandem axled MH), you can usually get by with 3 x ramps.
I have seen Millenco ramps crack and splinter. We carried 4 x of these ramps, and still do for wild camping, ie, if there is a problem, just drive off and leave them behind. ;)

If levelling the rear does it matter which axle you raise. Is it best to reverse on or place in front of the first axle and
drive on forward.

No, as neither are driven axles, hence the term tandem.
I preferr to reverse on to the ramps, for the reason I posted above, but also, if on wet grass, you have given yourself a bit of a rolling start when driving off the ramps, which hopefully you can then maintain without getting stuck. Especially handy with FWD. ;)

If the pitch is sloping upwardly, drive on which then may not require ramps at all for levelling.

Thanks everyone, not been out in this van before but sounds as though its the same principle as a single axle.

We carry four decking planks for the rear wheels and Millenco ramps for the front wheels. The planks also spread the load so your wheels don’t ‘settle’ into the ground meaning that you can always just drive off the planks minimising the risk of front wheel spin.

I drove off the front of mine recently spinning on wet grass. The ramp got jammed under the wheel and the chassis. Had to jack up the van to remove it.

Were they the taller Millenco ramps Simon? Mine (in the photo above), have never got jammed. A quick shimmy right or left of the steering, sees them left behind for retrieval a few minutes later.

Jock. :)
