I'm a newbie
Hello all, I have a Exide marine multi-fit equipment gel ES900 80AH 12 volt leisure battery, it may be the original battery that came with my MH that could be 10 years old ,,would I be wise to get 2 of the same or one with better spec, is this a decent battery?...I will be going full time ,hopefully 3/4 wild camping and 1/4 with hook up...as you can tell I'm a novice and would appreciate any advice ,king regards Paul & Pippa

Excellent battery. Two of those would be a very good choice. Hard to better it. However, before ‘splashing out’, check yours really needs to be replaced. There might be a year of manufacture label on it somewhere. Over 7 years I think would be doing well.

Unless you're having problems with it, I would just keep on using it, some people have reported 12 years or more use of gel batteries.

Check your payload. Batteries are heavy.
Are you thinking of getting two because you find yourselves running short? That could be because the old one has lost most of its capacity. A new (single) one may be all you need.

You have really answered your own question as very few people on here can say "my battery might be 10 years old" these batteries are 28kg, I have 4.

How very prophetic !!

I would run a controlled discharge test on them to see how well they are performing, if OK you will probably get another year or two out of them.
When it's time to change the Sonnenschein GF12065Y is almost identical to the Exide, they are an Exide company and make the Exide Gel's. Also sold by Tayna and a few quid cheaper than the Exide.
