Look at it another way, had you set off somewhere and something collapsed it would ruin the trip and could cost a fortune to get recovered and then mended, better to avoid, even though the bill is a shock

You could try somewhere else to be sure, or just get it done and hope you have caught it rather than having to deal with it :)(y)

Sump rusting out is a common fault with Ducattos.
I give mine a sand and a couple of coats a decent Auto u/coat annually, using a spray bomb it only takes 10 mins or so.

Hardest part for me is getting up from the floor again:doh::laughing::rofl:

I've never heard of the coil springs rusting - going weak maybe but never rusting. Is the front of the van very low compared to the back? Probably cheaper to take it somewhere else to get it MOT'd. And if they are only advisories I know some people who have had advisories for the same thing for 5 years and still not had a problem.

Don't you get a heavy duty thick plastic front end undercover with Fiats anymore?? Our 1992 2.5 has one, and the sump plus other bits are still like new.

That sounds like a money making exercise to me. Rusted springs? They will have surface rust on them, sump, rub down and paint. Cross member, check with small toffee hammer, if ok rub down and paint.
Next MOT, go somewhere else! (y)

Rusty sumps are a known problem even on X250's, worth changing as it is lightly to develop pin holes.

My 2005 didn't when I bought it - it has now. I suspect they get 'lost' during servicing because no-one can be bothered to refit them.
