Leaking shower at the base of the tap (1 Viewer)

Hi all, I have a little leak and sounds like a air leak on the base of the shower tap. Is this a easy repair?? Many thanks Neil

In my van the pipes connect with jubilee clips to the base of the kitchen tap ( not looked at the shower tap). It's possible that they could have loosened with vibration but not that likely. Alternatively could water have frozen in the pipes to cause one to split?
You will need to get the panel off to access the pipes. On my van this is separate from the shower panel walls.

Hi thanks for the reply. There is no separate panel, the shower is one complete unit with the tap sticking out of the wall, I’m trying to find out how to take the tap apart and have a look, it could be the frost we had

Photo's would help as someone probably has the same tap.

Taps often split in cold weather if they have not been left open in the central position when draining down.

I had a leak at the base of a tap, and was cured by nipping up the lock ring on the tap cartridge.

That sounds more difficult to access. Mine you need access to both sides of the tap to unscrew it from the sink top and I guess would be the same for the shower. I suppose that the tap could just clip through the panel but doubt it? Any way to get at the other side of the panel?

Mine was leaking from the same place as yours.

I unscrewed the tap operating shaft that sticks out. In the hole that I unscrewed it from is an Allen screw. Loosen that and head of tap comes off. Then that shows a domed piece that just unscrews. Once that is removed it exposes a big nut. I checked that and it was a bit loose. Nipped it up and all good

On yours I would assume the screw that holds the top on would be under the round cap on the top of the tap lever.

Mine was leaking from the same place as yours.

That is a Reich tap, you can get the top lever off by prising out the button on top, underneath there it a socket cap skew (alan key head). undo that and the top and lever come off. the body is held on by a small torx head screw in the centre on the back of the tap.
To get at the pipe connections or remove the tap you will need to underneath the tap.

When putting the tap back together replace the socket cap screw with a stainless steel one, I did that on all my 3 taps, why they fit an unplated screw that rusts in a tap is unbelievable.

Looking at the first photo the leak appears to coming from the join of the flexible pipe, is it just a matter of replacing the sealing washer?

From what I can see from your second picture the leak may be in the shower hose or at the connection between it and the tap, see the drop of water on the nut. Have you tried undoing it and checking the rubber washer and if OK putting it back making sure it is tight.
