Just found lead carbon batteries are there any major advantages over lead acid?
Just asking as I’m about to finally change my battery once solar is up and running. Another thought could you charge one of these batteries via solar on an agm setting but still use occasionally ehu on lead acid setting?

Lead carbon is a lead acid technology.. Not sure they are suitable as a leisure battery..
I'd do a bit googling on them before going down that route..

Thanks the more reading I do the more confused I am?
Just want best battery I can get below £160 but must be less than 120ah

Well ive just had a quick read and I'd be inclined to think that its not suitable or ideal as a leisure battery..it obviously has advantages in terms of its ability to accept charge and discharge faster ,but seems to be aimed more at the start battery market..
I'd be sticking to a good quality flooded or gel type battery..

Only googled a little bit but you ain't getting a lead carbon for £160 or less.
Victron have one (105ah) for £305... There's another for £265.

They appear to be similar in DOD to a Lithium at 30% to 70% usable power but discharge almost instantly at lower voltages like a capacitor..... No gradual loss of power
You would be better with GEL in my opinion.

I‘m curious about why that would be a requirement.

Sargent ec325 can only handle a 120ah battery
when I read that I had to go look as I just can't see that...
the only consideration in increasing your battery bank size is likely to be its effect on the mains charger, and if its a decent bit of kit the only effect on that is it would have to work harder and longer to recharge the
bank..
I see where you get it from but imo they are just quoting it as a typical eg

copied from their data sheet...

For optimum performance and safety it is essential that only a proprietary brand LEISURE battery is used with a typical capacity of 75 to 120 Ah (Ampere / hours). A normal car battery is NOT suitable. This battery should always be connected when the system is in use.
bank..

id be happy to add a second battery to the system increasing it to 220 or so amp hours if thats what suited you..
see if anyone else has thoughts on it..

I’m surprised that that’s the case (but couldn’t find any details of the unit online).
I’d just expect the charger to take longer to charge a, discharged, larger capacity battery.

Edit: post crossed with andy63 ’s post but I’m in agreement with him.

Rang Sargent and they said max 120ah battery
needless to say I don't agree with sergeant then:LOL:..

hard to believe that they are saying their system is only capable of supporting 120ah,, when most motor homes are if anything becoming more power hungry in spite of energy saving lights etc..
