I’ve just been looking at prices to cross next month and noticed 3 priced tickets.
The cheapest option is booked train only, is this a new thing to make more money, don’t remember see it before and we’ve been offered earlier train with no cost.

Been the same for several years. You can still get offered an earlier train but only if you arrive in the 2 hour allocated check in. If you arrive too early they will add additional charges. It’s getting more expensive now than ever in my opinion.

Manic we only ever book the Standard ticket and both journeys this time we were offered an earlier train for no charge, in fact we moved our return journey last month, forward by a day for no charge. So go for the Standard and you will be fine (y)

All the gear, and no idea!
As far as I’m aware it’s never had that highlighted wording on any previous booking I’ve ever done, and that’s the only option I ever buy, but it’s never been train specific🤔🤔

Thinking about it, previously if you turned up they’d put you on an earlier train within your two hour time slot, and give you a later train if you just missed it (also in your two hour slot) I’m now thinking of you turn up early and it suits them, they will board you, if you just miss it, they will charge you🤔

If you book using Tesco vouchers you can only book Standard, which is always what we do. If you miss a train or you’re late or early they will charge you more. I guess that’s the deal.

Just booked a single to Calais for just over a weeks time.
Looking at their Web site they are calling for final boarding around 90minutes ahead of the departure. Their advice to roll up an hour before will probably mean missing your train. I will aim for around 2 hours early, as we have to do the dogs bit too.

I just noticed the new wording. The point is I have never got on the actual train I booked. When it's busy it's chaos there. You just line up and hope. but concerned about the change I decided to try Newhaven Dieppe, much cheaper.

I here a lot of people use 'quick and easy' as a reason for preferring tunnel over ferry but I only arrive 1 hour early for a ferry. This makes the ferry journey pretty much the same time as the tunnel.

Also - £400+ for Flexi -mad!

Ah but it could mean if you arrive 2hrs early you are given an hour earlier train and it usually does😊
